Eye Wiring - Which leads go where?

,... which leads are (+) on the LED and Eye

,.. and which leads are (-)?

I dont want to kill my set of eyes that I have.

The + is always the longer lead. One should be short, one should be long. Same for both the Emitter and Detector.
