View Full Version : Who here doesn't use a mag for their main marker?

Hey:

I was just curious since this forum seems to have a large mag base but not completely.

What do you use if you aren't using your mag as your main marker?

Why?

Me:

If I'm not using my mechanical mag (electro, mech, or pump) I prefer to use:

Pumps:
Phantom

Mechanical:
Blazer

Electro:
Excalibur
or
Cyborg

Just curious.

Well, its according to where I was playing.

For tourneys I used my Mini as primary. I have a cocker that I got to fool around with in open play, but generally use my mag. The cocker will also come in handy for those woodsball days that HPA isn't available.
So in all fairness I have to say I use my mag as primary everywhere except for in the CFOA. Does that count? The reason being that the Mini was easiest to comply with ramping rules and efficent enough to shoot as much paint as I needed for each game, and still retains a good bit of the feel of an Emag.

Well - my Xmag is my primary 99% of the time. However, Im REALLY liking the Alias Timmy I acquired, and my E-cocker that I just built and used for the first time yesterday.

I roll like this...

Pump: Cocker

Mech: Mags (stock and my special Z-gripped baby)

Electro: A4Fly and "Intelligent Portions Jolter SFT" (use both as of now, but my EPMag is gonna be finished soon and it will likely replace these too, or be tied with the A4Fly:coolshades:)

Insane: Armotech Zeus G1 (not used often because I do not have any tubes for it, so that means a 10-shot game. Great to do the last game when low or out of paint :rofl2:)

I used to run with DMCs as my primary electro but ever since I made a pair of Emaggos the DMCs seem to have been retired.

I liked the DMCs a lot though, they are very reliable and always worked great witout any issues. Still have them sitting in their cases, maybe they will become my "loaners".

I mostly play with my cyborg. Occasionally, if I feel like playing pump I use an old razorback.

If someone could design a Lvl 10 style anti-chop for one of these, I couldn't ask for anything better.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I do that too, we all have, but I mean I do it routinely. At the field I reffed at, before working there, the owner and the manager each asked me not to do that loads of times. Kids would see me do that, mimic it, and royally mess up the rental guns:rofl2:

I generally take 2-3 mags with me to the field.

one of my x's for 99% of play
my faithful RT to keep it loose
and which ever one im tinkering on.

All three generally see action. I have seldmoly played with anything other than AGD main since i sold my 1st edition dark angel i originally bought becuase the wait list on xmags was too long back years ago.

If i'm not playing with a mag, its either A: i am using my phantom, or B: i don't have a choice because i loaned them all out. I usually take 2 guns or more to the field... and a phantom.

One time i took 5 markers with me, due to a shortage of rental markers. (the field owner doesnt store his markers at the field) One of those was a phantom, the rest mags. It will be a while before i do that again, because i don't like to clean 5 guns after play. And i hate cleaning sombody else's mess.

Xvalved mag aka Bad Karma if I CAN get HPA

Amen brother. Even if they take good care of them, they never seem to be around to help you strip them down and clean them. Odd how that works out.

I usually shoot a Bob Long Marq or Intimidator. I use a Phantom quite a bit. My mag gets busted out here and there but not a ton.

I own a '05 Matrix, and a Mini. They dont get as much use as the mech mags, but they are in the arsenal as loaners who are new to the sport and need a little help from the ramping chip.

Mostly I use my classic RT, BUT...

For some scenario play I have a X36 modded Tippy X7. I take the beast out when playing in heavy rain and other nasty weather conditions. Nice to not even need batteries for the hopper ;)

I plan on picking up a pump Karni in the near future as well for 'low commission paycheck weeks' when I can't afford a lot of paint.

Most of the time I go out with my IR3 Angel.... Just because it shoots fine for me. No issues to be had. Can't beat that when it's time to go.

I try to take my mags out, but most of the time I get the hiccups n shiznit with em, and something goes wrong and blah blah... and well back in the box they go. I'm really trying to get one set up the way I can love it and make it my main. I'm working on getting an adjustable reg finally so I can up the output and get more from the mag. It don't have to go RT... though it's fun, but I do want it to shoot when I pull the trigger. I get that going and I'll Q it again and see how that works for me.

So mainly the Angel if I feel like tossing alot of paint and if not that then my Eagle just because I am loving the way it shoots... and with an AC bolt in it... :D you ain't choppin nuthin!!!!

While I do have an Emag and a mechanical mag, I just bought an 05 Ego to use as a primary because I am starting to play in the NCPA and I wanted something more air efficient.

That being said, when I go out for a day of rec play or woodsball, I almost always use my mech mag or emag, depending on my mood for the day.

Right now I'm only running a pump.

I plan to be shooting a mech cocker and a bushy after xmas...

The mag I'm working on, but the way our air situation is, it's not pheasable to run a gun that likes 1000psi into the valve to shoot at potential....if we had a compressor I'd have built another e-mag.

I use mostly my Marq and sometimes my Timmy or Phantom, I gave my younger brother my mag for his first marker and don't even own one anymore.

I missed that this was an old thread, sorry for the double post.

I actually used a 98 custom for the longest time.
Everytime I played, I was unlucky enough to have a mag in the works or not working.
Sadly, after owning close to 30 different mags over the 2 1/2 years Ive been playing I have yet to use a mag in a game.

(my friends reds barrel... its not bad... still like my boomstick better tho)

And a Gen E matrix that has every upgrade known to man. :evillaugh:

But my “back up” Mags always are what I’m using by the end of the day. I love my Mags. I just know how to use them better or something.

That's all I've ever owned as well. I understand how to tech the platform, and the number of stock frames and frame mods available make it flexible enough that I can easily shoot any style except pump.

I've just recently gotten into mags, and right now I'm playing the most with my classic RT. Prior to that it was my right feed mechanical cockers for my semi play. For pump play, I tend to use my Phantom the most but I will break out one of my multiple Sheridans fairly often too.

When i go out to play i normal take 3 guns out.
2 vikings and a mag.

dont really have a main marker because i change it up so much. I just play with what marker best expresses my mood at that time.

But this summer i has been my 03 immortal more then any other gun.

If I'm not using my E-Mag I'm using my pump-kitted Trilogy. It's my only other marker, but it's a completely different experience since it's a pump :D

I don't currently own any mags. Although I used to own an X-Mag (that's where my username came from) but I sold it almost 3 years ago. So my main marker is a Cyborg.

I love the 'Borg for it's simplicity, reliability, quality, and ease of use. Not to mention it is very quiet for a poppet valve and it has no kick what-so-ever.
Don't get me wrong, I like Mags (I miss my X-Mag every once in a while) but the lack of air efficiency and lack of software upgrades (at the time the only promosed software upgrade was the Predator board, which I believe still has not happened) is what drove me to sell it. It was just sitting in my gear bag more and more. So it was time to let someone else enjoy it's sexyness.

Unfortunatly my main for the moment is an 03 shoker (under 4000 serial number) that I want to sell to help pay for an 08 Ego. I was considering a 'borg for awhile (still am to a point) but should I ever need to repair it I don't want to wait for either parts to get shipped to me or have to ship my gun to Miami. So that moved the Ego up to the top spot since it has lots of local support, and I have yet to get my hands on a 'borg but I have fooled with an Ego some. Not played any games with one, but I at least have been able to see the gun with my own eyes not just pics on the web and other people reviews.

I use mainly a cocker with a pump kit.

Use to use a Mini-mag with an x-valve tuned to bouncy perfection. However I'm a poor college student so I had to sell it to pay for car repairs. I couldn't really afford the paint that I would throw with that marker either.

I am however working on a Eclipse splash mag that will have a pump kit on it soon. I'm sure that will become my main when it's complete.

right now I'm using a 05 superstock cocker as my main, the gun rocks, and my backup is a 04 prostock cocker. I don't shoot a mag because I don't own one  I'm looking to get a protege but first I gotta pay off my super computer and get a new monitor.

Mech: Mags (stock and my special Z-gripped baby)

I got to hold that baby a little while back for a few seconds. Are you still running back bottle on that thing?

Anyway, i use my mags whenever i can, but if i don't have access to HPA then i use my Spyder Victor 2 (this isn't often) though i'm trying to get my classic mag to run off co2 so i can stop using that thing.

Oh, and when i get some 12 grams and some pvc pipe and make my talon a stock class marker i'll use that when i wanna play pump.

no more mags, although I've owned almost all of them-

level 7 mag
level 7 powerfeed mag
couple of mini mags
ULE mech mag
Emag
C&C XMag

they all had their moments and were all great, but I like to change things up and have been through al sorts of guns, spools, poppets, cockers, etc.

My main gun now is an EGO8 with an Etek as a backup. In my area, Egos are everywhere and it is real easy to get parts and service. But, I like them for how easy/simple they are to maintain (compared to the spoolers I've had) and how efficient they are.

I also run a slider framed mech Chipley series 5 for woodsball. i love that gun.

/see, my way of getting around that is i can never part with my babies, so i just hoard. I'm saving up for a mini next, then after that maybe an e/xmag, but i don't think i'll ever sell any of my guns, just how i am.

Until recently, I always used a mag as my primary. I bought a new 06 Cyborg after hearing so many good things about them. It shoots really well and is very efficient. I love it, but will always have the mag for a backup.

Main gun for the last year or so has been an 04 angel speed I got milled, anno'd, pred board and what not. Love the gun to death. Will be with me till I can no longer shoot it. My mag is here but only for a little while longer I found a trader for coupple cockers and such. I dont even remember shooting my emag for the last coupple of years to be honnest. I think I've aired it up and shot it a coupple time but nothing really. And so we move on...

Im new to mags, before recently only cockers for me. I wanted to get less dependent on hpa so I picked up a couple of mags.
I ony play rec/woods ball with buddies. There aren't any fields close to home.
Got an old sniper for pump and to mech mags. Still got a mini-cocker for fun.

FYI, there is a software update for E- and X-Mags, called XMOD. You don't even need to replace the stock board, just flash it with the new software. I've heard good things, but don't own an electro so I couldn't tell you anything firsthand.
