View Full Version : Your marker, Why do you prefer it?

Not so much that im interested in what marker you shoot, but more so why you prefer it over other markers. Lets be honest here!

Personally, when I'm playing in a speedball, or airball type game, I have gimped myself I NEED, I repeat NEED warp. So what better to shoot then an xmag, which was designed to accept warp feed better then any other marker.

When just casually playing which is more then 75% of the time these days. I prefer to shoot my first paintball marker I owned, A Mokal Titan. (BTW if you know where I can get more of these, DO tell me.) Its more durable then anything hands down. If you havnt ever used one I suggest it to any person starting out. Its fantastic, plus there are literally NO upgrades, so you SAVE MONEY!

Electro- Automag X-mag W/Warp feed
Mech- Mokal - Titan (Possibly the best mechanical marker I have ever shot, all things considered) No offense RF My mag of yours is great ;)

i started with open bolt blow backs (mainly a spyder xtra) then i upgraded to a cocker. there was just something that felt right about it and i've used one ever since. (built with an e2)

then i picked up a mag....
i seem to aim more instead of sling as much paint as possible and i like not having to worry about chopping (thank you lvl x) i'm still new to mags so i'm in the process of finding the perfect setup but i'll never use another mech marker over my mag.

electro - custom cocker
mech - mag

Ah, this is an easy one. I prefer my X-mag  its the only marker I have. I've been itching to use a warp on it to see how it feels. Hey if anyone knows where i can get one of the warp harness to attach it to my X let me know, i need one.

I love my Marq, its alittle heavier than most new markers but it feels really good, is ultra relyable, easy to maintain, constistent, and I can play well with it. And the 4 eye kit really is pretty neat.

I prefer my xmag, rt and mag in general, weight not being a factor for me since i dont, by no stretch of the imagination have girlyman arms.

Why - reliability. I have not changed but one o ring in my original mini mag around the md to late 90s. I have abused it, forgot to oil it left it in the marker bag for way to long and even outside in the rain. But when someone wants a loaner or i just want to relive some very old memories i pull it out. I have never worried if it would fire up and not leak. The feeling of know if would war three happens and nukes are dropped everywhere, who ever survives will be able to hook air to that mag and it will still shoot, w/o leaking.

Now times have changed and i baby my markers, all of them except for that one, she gets neglected, but it there if i ever need it sitting and quietly waiting for the next call up.

so for me a mag, because its like that old farm truck that should have stopped running back in the 70's but still gets you around today and you have only put nondurable items on it - gas tires etc...

I now have 2 x's and a new x on the way soon. The xmag is my choice of gun. Anything else just feels wrong to me. Now dont get me wrong i like to see new guns and shoot them for a game, but i havent found much else other than a borg that i enjoy playing with.

Honestly, I prefer a nicely sprung WGP style Sniper Pump to anythign els eI have ever used. I sold mine to my cousin about 3 years ago,and I think I might see if he wants to sell it back to me this winter.

I use other guns, becasue in some situations, using the pump gun is just asking for more welts. In 10 on 10 games, I'll shoot pump all day, but then it gets to like 15+ on a side, it's just to hard to stay in the game and do my side any good.

I shoot the Mini because its small ( i have little girly hands ) fast, efficient, and easy to maintain, but I still prefer a nicely set up pump.

I shot mags becasue they could shoot the crappiest oldest paint I could find in the garage from last winter, didnt take batteries, and nobody else had them around here.

Hey:

Any of my guns I use (prefer), because of reliability.

I can pull the trigger/pump as fast as I need with almost any marker but if I have to worry about it not working-I'm not thrilled.

My marker of choice is my Xmag. I really dig the warp when the mood hits me. Funny thing though, I play better with my Timmy and my Mech RT. Not sure why though.

You should get rid of it then, and your SFL too. :D

Angel Joy Division G7 45 grip frame. Rock solid reliable marker only used for PSP format play. Over 45K of paint run though her and not one problem. To me its well balanced light enough and near perfect.

But ultimately I still love the Chord Emag I owned more, however deadlywind and Agd don't sponsor the team i'm on so angel it is...

Actually if you are refering to the 90 elbow you dont need one you can connect strait to it.

But, what i think you mean is the warp breech, as far as that goes, make sure you know if you need left or right. Generaly right for lefties and left for righties.

You might want to talk to classicmagger about that. I know hes had some in the past also A-Tach Might be an option. Checking agd right now....

Hmm... this is a difficult question... I have so many markers i like that all have their own feel and handling to them...

I've had alot of markers in the very short period i've played. I started with the A5, later matrixes, cockers, and finally mags. Of all the guns i've had or have played with, the mag feels most comfortable.

I usually play woods, but if i would be speedballing or have a need to really spray some paint in the woods, my marker of choice would be my STD Xmag. Heavy but reliable and i have used this with a warp and a maxflo system. It did kinda wear me out, so i'm back to presets and center feed. I've had this marker for over a year and the last half year hardly saw any play. But when i pick it up it just feels like i've used it for years. (subconsious memory?)

When paint volume is less demanding (smaller games) i either turn to my trusty minimag that can run on COČ and saves me the hassle of bringing a scuba, or i'll bring my pneued tac-one. The minimag is fun to shoot and shoots true on COČ. The tac is infact my first custom made marker, i've modified alot of stuff that i thought would suit me best and it came out very well. Alas i have it here in parts now, ready to ship for anno but she'll be done before the 2008 season starts.

And lastly there is my phantom. Before i had this, i had a maverick pump that was not very accurate, so i usually avoided pump games. But running a stock class pump is a nice thing to do, much more fun than just playing semi. I will play more pump next season, because it is dead on acurate and you have to work a little harder to get those eliminations. Pretty much starting with this, because its fun.

It's light, efficient, consistent and it feels right in my hands. I would mention speed but nowadays almost anything will shoot 15.

My main marker for right now is my S6, I like it over my other pumps for several reasons as follows:

1. Light.
2. Sexy.
3. Super Smooth Pump Stroke.
4. AT for when I need it against Semi's.
5. Did I mention sexy?
6. Reliability.

HOnestly, i go through guns like nobodies business. Throughout all of the markers i've owned or shot the number one has to be my friends acid wash emag with morlock board which i get to play with on occasion.
Other than that my favorite
electro- mini (although i've never shot an Xmag)- small light, fast as anything (efficiency doesn't matter to me beyofd a reasonable amount)
Mech- a well tuned xvalved ULE mag- small, light, quick, never breaks, and just "right
Pump- VSC phantom- small, light, easily maneuverable.

you know, i'm seeing a trend in my favorites

A-Tach-One

Electro - Xmag marker of choice.
Mainly for comfort, it feels absolutly perfect in my hands, it has a solid feel while holding and shooting it. And it's so easy to maintain. The looks of an Xmag obviously has me hooked. Tinkering with the mag is another thing I love. Just my preference.

Mech - Mag marker of choice.
Reasons, same as above

As a woodsball/scenario player, my gear has to be able to take a beat'n and work with a tac vest like the Flurry and Spec Ops versions. The markers also have to be able to have a JCS folding stock mounted to it. I set up all my guns that way because it works for me. The first time a group of speedballers saw my Ego with a stock on it they looked at me as if I were from Mars. I think I may have easily been one of the very first to do it. Probably the last - lol

E Tac - http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/HOMELANDEFENDER/E-Tac.jpg

- Tough as balls
- Reliable
- Evil looking
- Feels the most natural in my hands
- I can mount my sling to it

Ego - http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/HOMELANDEFENDER/2003_0101AlterEgo0007.jpg

- Light weight
- Air efficient
- Takes abuse better than you'd think

Believe it or not I like the Ego for many reasons , and high its ROF capability isn't a priority to me. I single shoot it most of the time. I enjoy its overall feel a close second to the EMag.

I've tried to break the habit but can't. The Xmag remains my primary weapon of choice. It looks as inviting as ever. I haven't found a trigger action that compares. The hand to hand grip is laid out just about perfectly for me, and then there's the sound and feel of the way the Xmag shoots. Everything else seems like a "pop gun" to me. I realize that this has nothing to do with performance, but I go out into the field to have fun not to compete at a high level. Since returning to paintball, I've had my best times with the Xmag.

My Mag (ule body, ule rail, Chimera frame, X-valve)

-Best looking paintball gun ever. Well, until i get the rail i need (milled rt rail so i can put a 15* asa on it. if you have one pm me)and get it anno'd this winter, then THAT will be the best looking marker ever. ;)

-reliable
-Lvl 10
-decent rate of fire. (looking forward to the pnue-mag conversion though)
-tossable (meaning i can change posisions very easily with it) compact would be another word....

So many guns so little time

My old F1 still ranks up there even though it is just in my gear bag. Haven't used it in years, but it still works beautifully

My original Dragon Timmy has got to be my favorite even though I sold it for an e-cocker. Not the Dragons you see everywhere, but the one I had was when it was a "limited edition" from Nation until everyone and their brother wanted one and they went into full production.

Even through I am currently running a sucker that I really wish I never bought I have to say I tend to like 2 tube stacks over single tube spool guns. I like the size of the single tubers and if I had my way I would keep both around, just try telling my wife that I need to get 2 new guns http://www.pblegion.com/images/smilies/smarty.gif
:smarty:

Of the new stuff though I am really interested in that new Protogege, the MacDev Droid, and the MacDev Cyborg (yeah I know the Cyborg been around for a while) Think about grabbing a PM (NOT A PMR, screw all that plastic) since its the previous years DM and Mini at times, just short on cash. Heck if I had my way I would have a rather large collection

I haven't gone through as many markers as everyone else, mainly due to my 10 year gap of not playing.

Started with a Prolite. There weren't too many choices at the time and it required the least maintenance and had decent reliability. I never really cared for the rifle-style feel though. Probably because I have short arms :o

"Upgraded" to a Piranha a couple years later. Much tighter feel to it since I could tuck it in much better. Chopped more paint with it than the Prolite though, probably due to the lighter trigger pull making the cycling faster.

Skip ahead about 9 years... Picked up a MiniMag off eBay. Wanted something reliable and small but didn't want to pay electro prices (Spyder was out of the question)

Discovered AO and ended up spending a boatload in upgrades :D

My MiniMag has since been converted into a ULE'd X-Valve Mag. (I guess that would be called the Automag RT Pro Custom ULE?)

I love the weight and feel! I've lost weight over the years and have become more aggressive and agile. Now I have a marker that matches my playing style.

I had briefly considered an Invert Mini recently due to it's weight and form factor. I'm hoping that once my G-Force pneu-frame arrives, I won't even consider going to electro.

none

im being honest, there is no marker i consider to be far greater than anything else.

with that having been said i usualy use my classic hyperframed mag for recplay, or my karta mag. ocasionaly the phantom as well

ive used just about everything over the years and like classicmagger i settled on a marker/markers that work all the time, and work well with little to no maintenance and easy to tech if needed.

nothing worse than wasting playing time fiddling with settings or wondering why your gun isnt firing and is saying "oil me"(angel ir3)

and yes, i had to come here and see what all the fuss was about

The reasons I use an Xmag:

1 removable breech. I can swap between warp and vert (including removing the warp) in less than a min.

2 never breaks.

I bought my E-Mag and still use it for a number of reasons:

1 - Reliability. It always works. Seriously. It doesn't stop. I pull the trigger, it fires a paintball. I pull the trigger a lot, it fires a lot of paintballs. I take a spill, dive into the dirt with it, it still shoots perfectly immediately afterwards in spite of my intense clumsiness and utter embarrassment :p I've done that a number of times and still come out on top at the end of the match.

2 - Durability. See above clumsiness.

3 - Consistency. Really, I shouldn't have to elaborate here, but people I don't know and have never met have gone out of there way to tell me how ridiculously accurate my marker is. Sure, that's partly because I know how to shoot it, but a lot can be said for a deadly consistent marker.

4 - Speed. It's my first electro and my last mech, but it shoots as fast as I need it to in either mode. This and 3 makes a mean combination.

5 - Comfort. This is potentially the most important thing. My E-Mag is tweaked to be very comfortable for me to shoot. It includes the weight and length of the trigger pull, the overall length of the marker, the upward angled ASA which allows me to pull it in tight, and general heft of the marker. Comfort means snapshooting is dead easy.

I think that about sums it up. I'm a function over form kind of guy, really. Though I do get compliments for how nice it is, and I made it to the voting for October MOTM on AO :D

Oh, yes, the obligatory picture:

For the maximum paint slinging experience (Air/Speed/Hyper-ball) there is only one choice... SFL E-mag Chimera!

For all of those times when you want to p*ss off the electro paint thrower crowd... My Sniper I (sn 774) or, better yet, my KP2SC

The funny part is that I have such a wide range of markers, that I use certain ones for certain applications.

If I'm playing a night game, in the dark, I'll use my Nova 700. It is nearly silent and is very difficult to localize the noise. If I'm looking for intimidation, I pull out my Zweiling. Two barrels are better than one... right?
