I dont know why, even with a small 45/45 or peanut 70 tank, i just cannot play worth a poop with just a rail and asa. Maybe its b/c i played with drop forwards so long and like the shortness and putting the gun right up to my mask when i shoot.

How many still prefer a drop of sorts. I have some super long kapps (usually for running bigger tanks on my mags) and short shocteck and cps for other guns.

Reason for this is alot of folks were just totally upset to see me with a dropo on the new droid, when in fact all my guns have drops.

Ive kept my Shockteck drop, just in case I ever wanted to go back.

The thing I like about rail drops is that it makes the gun longer than taller. This allows one to use the tank to shoulder it.

I prefer the dropforward.

I'm one of the few people left on my regular field who uses one..and I have one on all my markers. I like where it allows me to shoulder my marker and where it puts the marker in relation to my eyes with my posture.

I was on the angel-owner forum one day and some guy had a rather large (by today's standards) drop on his A1 and the people there were ripping into him calling the gun a "clown" and asking him how anyone could play like that. I just quoted the "how can you play like that" with a simple reply, "how can you not?"

where a drop forward make sme happy is how compact i get. It sets about on my underarm lower pec, making me a lot tigher. I also dont like shouldering my gun, it just feels unatural, maybe because i never hunted not sure. I also find my elbows almost always tucked in when i have a drop. The last thing is gun balance. most are perfectly balanced right at the grip, so onehanded shots are not at all impossible as well as less over all fatigue.

I still play with Drops as well... >And like most others the new generation does the "WTF" when I pull out one of my toys with a long drop on it.

Since getting a stubby 70/45 and a 45/45 tank I have started running them on my guns like the Etek and Mini and am trying to get used to it... especially since I can't put a drop on the mini... but we'll see. Most of my other markers have drops on em. I think it's what we are all used to more than anything.

When I first started playing and I bought my mag a drop forward seemed like a must have "upgrade" I guess because I was on AO and I'm pretty sure the majority (or at least ) at the time used drops and I liked how they looked.

Then I got rid of my mag and haven't had one since. That's been a few years now. I don't know how I ever played with one. They ruin your form. At least what I find to be correct form.

You also have much more control with a rail. And it gives you better support, keeping some of the weight off of your arms.

Rails FTW.

I used a drop on my first marker(tippy 98) but only because I had a stock on it as well and the 20 oz sitting an inch under the stock was a no go.

as soon as I got rid of the stock I picked up a rail and have been using the tank to shoulder the marker.

When the marker is shouldered it feels just like an extension of my arm, I swing my entire body around now instead of just my arms for a shot.

I've actually never used a drop, so I don't know how they feel.

Both my E-Mag and Chord Mag have CP direct mount on/off ASA's. My Sniper has a rail and CP on/off ASA.

I had an NDZ Drop Kick on the E-Mag for a while but then swapped it out. It worked well but a straight up ASA ended up being better form for me.

I might try a drop to see how it is.

I personally need to run with a drop on all my markers. I like how it makes my set-up more vertical instead of horizontal. It allows me to tuck the rig tighter to my body. Plus, like Death stated, I love the fact that all my set-ups are perfectly balanced at the grip. I've held a lot of rigs that have rails and I just can't get into how "heavy" the rears are.

this is my 15 year old brother n-law, he is a phenom when it comes to paintball. he uses a very small (47cu) tank on his mini, he hates it doesnt have a drop. He has an emag with a drop (gift from me) and a etek with a drop. He plays very tight, elbows in and plays both scenario on my team and i help sponsor his young gun three man team. notice how high the hopper is over his head. one of the two reasons i dont like non drops. hes two vertical. However the mini's small horizontal (barrel to grip) makes it where hes not two elongated.

Now picture him with a drop and dropping the hoper down 2-3 inches. It lowers your total profile.

He is one of the under 20 that swear by the drop, of course i raised him in paintball,

i have an invert and its so much different than my other markers. i've always used a drop of some kind. like was said, it balances the marker much better in one hand.

even with a warp body, shouldering a marker can increase your target area. i feel it puts the marker up by your head. to me thats a bad idea. i think most of us will agree that 90% of the time you get tagged from the shoulders-up.

the only way i will use a direct mount is with a drop kick rail, which i have grown to love.

is that like the old centerflag one that put it at an angle back?

His profile wouldn't be near as tall if 1. the tank wasn't so high on his shoulder. 2. he wasn't using that egg with a ridiculously long feed neck.

Direct mount(Bob Long gear drive FTW), if rails or drops then rails all the way.

i will use drops depending on the layout of the marker involved

if there is a LARGE back overhang (like mags, cockers, new shockers (there, i tried to say it), and cyborgs) i wont use one, mostly because its uncomfortable, and i feel the layout is fine, guns like this also have the feedneck located directly above the trigger, which may have a contributing factor

if there is a medium kind of overhang ill use a microdrop, the one i use is from CCM called a reversable, you can lengthen of shorten the tank by how it oriented, simple effective, gets the job done, guns like this (viking, DM5) generally have the feedneck located between the asa and the trigger

if there is no overhang, i have to use a drop, either a CP Razer, or micro razer type length (about the same size as a shocktech long) guns i setup like this generally have the feedneck located directly above the ASA (original matrix)

my hats off to anyone who can shoot a matrix with a uni-mouth, it sjust WAAY too long of a setup for me to shoot comfortably

Personally i wouldn't go any further than a dye mini drop, bigger than that and i would have regulator nut indentations in my shield lens. :D I have currently a system X drop on my Xmag, simply because i don't have a mini drop that has enough room for my Ambush regs. (fill nipple is sticking out too much) Even with a 88ci it feels awkward. Mini drop or no drop at all is my prefference.

When I first got back into paintball a few years back I started with CP razor drops. I was playing mainly long woodsball games at the time and it felt more comfortable to use a drop. Once I started playing more speedball I switched over to the rail mainly cause I felt like I was in more control of my marker with it. But that is just my feeling. I haven't gone back to a drop yet, I just prefer a rail these days.

It really depends on the gun for me. If I'm running my Marq 7, the I've got the rail system, but on my "for fun" guns the drop adds so much more personality than the rail.
