ASFASDFASDF I finally have some internet uptime and hopefully AT&T has it all fixed. This is not really a huge thread but it's related to the June game we have coming up and the paint that DevilMan can get people should they want it.
Friday evening I ran over to DevilMan's place and did a simple but informative little drop test on the 3 grades of paint they have.

Low Grade "The Edge Paintballs" as described on the box.
left side
Mid Grade
"The Best Paintballs" as described on the box
center
High Grade
"Dynasty Paintballs" (and Japanese charicters) as described on the box
right side
Before we did the drop test we sized the paint just to see what appeared to be.
All 3 grades appeared about right for a .687 bore.
So then we took 5 random balls from each grade of paint and dropped them from ~6 feet up onto a concrete floor.

Low Grade GAP
6 foot drop- Took more than 5 drops and very often did not break.
9 foot drop- Usually broke in 1-3 drops.
Fill- mostly water soluble. Some oil that stained the concrete. Nothing amazing about the thickness but nothing to complain about either.
Final Comments- Compared to some of the other stuff we tested later this was not that bad. Don't get me wrong it was the poorest performing of the GAP (kind of a duh) but after testing that "Bonus Ball" crap we got at CPP I would not call the GAP stuff garbage paint.

Mid Grade GAP
6 foot drop- Usually broke in 1-3 drops.
9 foot drop- Broke every time.
Fill- Water soluble. The stuff has that candy apple smell. Not an objectionable smell but pretty strong. Little bit thicker fill but it's no ZAP Primer...
Final Comments- I was surprised that this paint clearly seemed to have a higher level of quality. A shell that was hard and broke at lower heights and a nicer fill (better thickness and washed of real easy in water).

High Grade GAP
6 foot drop- Broke every time. First drop and it shattered (see image)
9 foot drop- Didn't bother...
Fill- Water soluble. REALLY bright orange fill (why don't they choose to make all fills bright like this one....?). Smells of chemical banana. Not an objectionable smell but pretty strong... ok maybe it's annoying. Nice this fill.
Final Comments- Again, I was not really expecting to see a clear difference in the paint. This stuff really sold me. Unless I get some compelling reason to buy the stuff at Extreme Ill be buying 3 cases of this stuff.
I'll try and put of the images of the REALLY bad paint we tested for the heck of it after I finish editing this movie this weekend.
