Is it just me or does it seem like some of the big boys are trying to make their companies seem more "transparent" to the consumer base. Between Sean (who at least will "discuss" things without trying to offend people) from °° and Jack Wood from PE going onto forums to field questions directly from their market...it seems like the corprate face of paintball is starting to realize that the distance between them and us is not a good thing.

I'm not by any means saying this is the road to the land of milk and honey, but it's at least a nudge in a better direction.

I think it's nice to see people on the inside at least try to care about the guys outside...at the very least it's a nice jesture.

It seems like a nice gesture, when its more for survival.

From what Ive been told, in the last few years allot of dealers have closed shop across the country. Most manufacturers are fighting to keep their dealer network, and fighting for sales.

A few years ago, things were going much better, so manufacturers didnt need to do these sorts of things. The landscape has changed.

The thing is, they are on the forums looking mostly for ways to rewrite history and make thier companys appear better. The "Crash Frame" is a good example, thru PBN they found a problem and then came up with a way to make that problem sound cool instead of fixing it. Those two companys specifically are masters of Hype and misinformation. They participate in the forums to look good and lead people to believe they are better than they are. Basically they are trying to establish a Tom Kaye apperance in terms of customer relations.

IMPOSSIBLE! No one can match T.K. when it comes to bonding with the buyer.

Been there, done that. I won't happen for a long time. Lexan is to soft and steel inserts in the wear areas would defeat the idea of making it transparent. Alumina is a theoretical possibility, but the milling would be nearly impossible (it would require diamond-coated milling bits) as alumina is basically the same as sapphire or ruby on the Mohs hardness chart.

Nanophase aluminum

Real transparent aluminum can and has been made by using nanophase aluminum.[3] This is aluminum composed of nanometre scale particles as a solid transparent material, whose color can be varied by sizing the particles differently. The particles themselves are smaller than the wavelengths of visible light. Nanophase materials are usually transparent and very hard, with color depending on the size of the particles.[4]

took it from wiki... now thats what we need

Notice the transparent windows on the body:wthumpup:

"Windows" doesn't make a "transparent" marker.

"Windows" make for an opaque marker with little "windows" in it. ;)

Wow this thread got off topic fast.

I honestly don't care what their motivation is for comming back to the table with the players. I'm just glad they are starting to do it.

Some communication is better than no communication.

i feel that if they are starting to realize they have been separated from their customer base, they are doing the right thing by interacting. they might not be saying the right things but at least they're not ignoring the problem. there is always going to be BS in the marketing world. deception and misleading information is part of the game for big corporations. its our part as the consumer to judge what is BS and what in not.

unfortunately these big companies are aiming at a young customer base, and that customer isn't aways as wise when it comes to weeding through the BS. with that the level tilts in their favor. but (mighty mouse theme song) that where true to the sport big brother comes to shed light on the BS. we as the "big brother", more experienced player in the game have to be there to help our younger protege's know what is true and what is BS.

i hope i'm not sounding like an idiot, i just got neutered so i'm on meds.........:freak:
