This is the AGD slug rail as it came directly from AGD. It is machined to spec from an AGD extrusion that is cut to length. It is the base rail from which RPG rails have been machined from, including: Splinter, Sleeper, Thrasher, Recon, Shadow(and MiniShadow), Wave(and MiniWave).

A few more tidbits of info:
These rails were not available to the public. To my knowledge they were only available to dealers.
When they were available, they ranged in price from $50-$75 retail. They were commonly available 2 years ago and interestingly only about 4-5 sold. Last year, a source had a small limited quantity. That was the last of them that were available.

So what will you be using to make rails now?

I will cross that bridge when the time comes. I still have stock of rails here, and AGD still has stock of the RT Pro rails, E-mag rails, and Automag/MiniMag rails.

If you have a full length wave rail...its only 1 of 10 made.

AGD is really winding down, isn't it? Sounds like what they have left in stock is pretty much all there will be.

Not quite, more like switching gears.
When Dave took over, he brought back the Automag/MiniMag rail. In the last year he has made more of nearly everything that is selling...ULE bodies, Tac bodies, XValves, ULT's, sears, field strip screws, Intelliframes, etc.
Remember, these rail slugs were made nearly 10 years ago(~1997).
If by winding down you mean they arent replenishing what doesnt sell, then yes. There was lots of margin in the markers 10 years ago...not so much these days. Its a wise business move to no longer make what doesnt sell.

Good to hear the blood is still flowing @ AGD HQ. But it would be nice for the company to bring out something new. I know this will be a risk, but AGD will not survive on their current line of products forever.
Even tho some of their stuff is still holding up after all these years.... :D

Ive heard this many times, and I can only answer it one way...
There is nothing new left really to bring out. Paintball markers shoot paintballs at 300 fps as fast as necessary(in some cases more).
5 years ago AGD revamped their whole line with an ULE body, Xvalve, ULE rails, ULE Trigger Pull kit, new trigger frames, new bolt, new tac bodies, XMags....etc. If history is any indicator, bringing something out 'new' didnt work. They were coming out with something new from 2001-2004...where did it get them? Tom retired.
Its my opinion the industry as a whole is at a stand-still. There will be little innovation, little that is truly groundbreaking, very little that is new.
BTW---Bringing something new out every year isnt working for any company any more. Having new models every year isnt working for even the big companies. I remember being in a local shop and the dealer had brand new DM4's-DM7's on the wall that he had bought within the last month from Dye. Dye still had DM4's in 2007 at the factory.

MacDev is done releasing "new" markers every year (as in new milling etc), or at least i know they are doing so with the droid.

I wish they would make a twistlock ready ULE body!!!! I LOVE the twistlock barrel system but I HATE the damn heavy ole SS bodies. Plus you can't anno them.
I also love the fact that the ball "chambers" into the barrel. Not that it gets shoved into it from the breach. Not that it makes alot of difference I suppose but I guess if it didn't then 1 piece, 2 piece seamless and all the other sales gimmicks wouldn't matter.
Anywho...

That's good to hear. From what is on the forums, it sounds like they are just blowing out existing stock, but it seems that is not the case.

What you hear on the forums is coming from speculation. Some if it true, most of it not. AGD is certainly blowing out existing stock, what company doesnt? But that existing stock is being replaced with what sells. Some are complaining that AGD isnt replacing the stuff that doesnt sell. I get that all the time...people want something only when its no longer available. Had they wanted it when it was available, it would still be available.
Who knows whats going to happen, there is stuff going on all the time that few know about including me. Something is supposed to happen and it doesnt, or its supposed to happen by a certain date, and it doesnt. I too wonder whats going to happen.

Right, that is what I meant, from speculation, as that is all that I have really seen. Just knowing that stuff is getting made makes the situation seem much better.
And I realize that slow sellers get discontinued, that's to be expected.
AGD might as well keep going on the same course, not much else to be done right now.

Tom said its not possible, I forget why. And since most barrel manufacturers stopped making barrels for twistlock, its yet another reason not to do them.

Yeah I know.... but don't mean I like it!!!! I've considered filing the threads out of a ULE body and then making it work by doing the rest of the boring... :D But not gonna start that fire for awhile...

Try getting a Chimera. Same problem. When I found out about them, I had no excess funds. Now I have money and no new frames to be had. Oh well.......:wall:

Yeah, I hear ya. The Chimera was available for nearly 2 years. There eventually comes a point where demand is too low to make more. The Chimera has been replaced by the Triton...which are new frames and are ready to be had:wthumpup:
