Twas the day of Thanksgiving, when all through the house
A creature was stirring, no, not a mouse;
The stuffing was stuffed by Mother with care,
In hopes that dinner soon would be there;
The children were jumping on their beds,
While visions of mashed potatoes danced in their heads;
And Mother in her apron, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a little nap,
When out on the oven there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.
Away to the kitchen I ran like the flash,
Tore open the oven door and dropped the Mrs. Dash.
The oven was cold like new-fallen snow
The temperature was not 450, it was far below,
Then, what to my sleepy eyes should appear,
But a zombie turkey, looking drunk on beer,
With a little Old English, so lively and quick,
I thought for a moment, it must be trick.
Rapid fire his gobbles they came,
And he gobbled, and gobbled, and called me by name.
Then, in a moment, I heard in my head
This gobbling cant be real, this bird is dead.
As I thought in my head, and was looking around,
From the oven the zombie turkey sprang with a bound.
He was stuffed with stuffing, he was missing a foot,
And his eyes were all red, and fear took root;
His eyes -- how they glowed! his gobbles weren't merry!
His wings were flapping, this turkey was scary!
His little mouth was making a hiss,
And as he gobbled you could tell he was really ****ed!
He had a narrow face and a little round belly,
I shook, when he asked for the cranberry jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a real winner,
And I laughed when I thought this turkey was for dinner;
A blink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon I was feeling nothing but dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight for my neck,
And gobbling all the time he went peck,peck,peck,
And laying his claw aside of my nose,
And giving a nod, up the claw rose;
He sprang to his feet, he gave a gobble cry,
And knew right then I was going to die.
I heard him exclaim, his beak just in sight,
"watch out this turkey can bite."
