well i baught one of these bolts rather cheap and knowing all of the issues involved i've never used it, but rather looked and debated how to improve it. while talking about how it gets chewed up so fast my friend came up with a great idea (well he stole patented info from sp.) aparently the shocker delrin bolts had the same problem, hence the sleeve that shockers now have around the said bolt. so im thinking of how i could creat such a protective sleeve in a mag. so far no dice but hopefully someone on here could think of a way....

Maybe I am missing a thread somwhere... but I hear delrin+mag+bolt and I think about massive chips getting chunked out by the sear.

fill me in... I turn stuff out of delrin all the time. love to help.

If I'm not mistaken MoeMag, the inside of the bolt is the same as the others. The outside diameter where the spring rides is delrin and is a sleeve that is slid over the inside and sear flange. The issue was the delrin would come detached from the SS inner sleeve and while shooting it'd come apart on the inside and frag out if I recall correctly.

The issue seemed to be how they attached the delrin to the SS and it wouldn't hold the delrin on during cycling.

I think they should have made the SS part of the bolt 2 piece and threaded the sear onto the back after making a stop lip up front that the sleeve would butt up against. Then just thread the back end sear flange one with a healthy dose of red loctite and let it cure and it should be good to go.

Ok... so who's gonna make it???

The biggest issue was the sleeve would wear from the spring. It wasnt that the sleeve would come loose, but rather that it would crack from use. Remember, the sleeve is being press fit over the bolt.

The beta bolts worked good, production bolts did not. And since the Level 10 bolt is close in weight, there was little reason to continue making a delrin bolt that had issues.

FYI DevilMan---RedLoctite isnt a cure all. The powertube on an XValve is red loc-tited. The shock/vibration from repetitive recoil breaks it loose all the time. Ive seen plenty of people that have XValves with powertubes that unscrew.

And the bolt idea...already been done years ago, it was called the Venom Thunderbolt(see the post here on PBL for pics). It too had issues with the sear flange separating from use.

All I remember from the v1 Superbolt was that I had to send it back even though mine never came loose or broke..oh well...it seemed like a pretty cool idea at the time..
