I think a suggestion area is crucial for a new site. So i will start off with something that caught my eye within a few minutes of browsing....word blocking.

I think the word blocking is a little excessive. I don't like s.mart p.arts...but come on. I could understand if it was blocked when they are used together but not when they are used seperatly. i know some words have to be blocked since they can be used immaturely but some are still necessary though, like autococker.

Rome wasn't built in a day. The site is brand new, and as BigEvil said some things are a work in progress. Hold tight, it will all make sense soon enough.

All in good time. PBL will also be looking for knowledgeable members who can be classified as "PBL Certified" techs in certain areas. Example, since Im well versed in AGD tech, I would have a badge saying "PBL Certified: AGD" (Or something similar). Also for any other product line that im experienced with. This way, when someone asks a question, they can be assured that they are receiving good info in return.

So all of that stuff is coming up as soon as possible.

Shout Out thread- Use Paintball Talk forum for that right now. As PBL gets bigger, more forums will be added.
Meet & Greet section- The Paintball Talk forum is the meet & greet section.
Auto section - Right now, use the O/T. As PBL gets bigger, more forums will be added to accomodate popular topics.
Chat parties/Fun/etc- As PBL gets bigger, these things will happen.
Custom User Title- You gotta earn it. That's a feature that comes with higher ranks.
Imbed items on a page-??
Feedback forum- Hopefully, the feedback here will work like it does on PBN. But let's not get ahead of ourselves yet. We need people buying/selling on here before we can worry about a feedback section.
Track messages/Read receipts- That comes with higher ranks.
More than just a BST forum- More forums will be added as PBL grows. There aren't enough posts right now to warrant another separate category.

Only the most basic of features are given to lurking members. More features are added as you climb the ranks. This is to encourage posting, but also to reward those members who contribute.

Forums will be added as PBL grows. Adding too many forums in the beginning only makes this place look like a ghost town. Remember, you are here on the ground floor. As things grow, the forums will too.

Its a pretty funny show. My guess is people that used to listen to them locally, and who have moved out of the area for whatever reason, keep listening to them online.

I doubt they get new listeners from their online presence.

I would like to have my own forum called the Dojo, diary of a againg martial artist, dedicated to all fighting forms, asian philosphy and all things Chuck Norris, sure to be updated as make a 2nd comeback after a torn hamstring and personal reflections such as....

or maybe a career and HR section - I have worked in Human resources for a long time and have a masters degree and PHR certification, Looking for a training powerpoint or want to know what the law says in new york about PTO - ask here, would be glad to offer PBL members advice, non legal of course in helping with careers and generally spychology questions, i have three degrees all in psychology, maybe call the forum the Freudian Faction.

Just some ideas of more intersting boards often not seen on other forums.

Coming soon... probably later.. but its in the works. I don't want to open a feedback forum that is not the way I want to do it, then have to delete the old one and replace it with a new one when we get it running. That would make an existing feedback kinda useless.

Gallery - in the works. I've been working on the AGD gallery, and a few others that arent open to public viewing as of yet. I've run into a few bugs that need to be overcome.

Expanded tech section - Also in the works. Bryce, I will definitely keep you in mind for the BL stuff.

Gun of the Month - also in the works, albeit a little bit off in the future atm. Im still working out the details. I do not want to run it the same way as on the other forums. I also want to think about possibly finding some reliable sponsors for prizes.

PBL Swag - Also in the early planning stages.

PBL Jerseys - Same thing. Im hoping to have something on a limited scale ready for Tunaball.

TND - Im sure there are plenty of crazies around here you can psycho analyze. Starting with me. :evillaugh:

One thing that doesn't make any sense to me is a 100 post minimum to search the forums.

If a newbie has a question that has been answered over and over again and they can't search for the answer they will:

A) post the question again.

B) search somewhere else.

C) type: "site:www.pblegion.com (http://www.pblegion.com) search terms here" in google.

Evade;

The search feature on many others site's is largely a privilege that you have to pay for(by paying to be an Annual Supporing Member). Here on PBL it isn't. But it is something we provide for members that contribute by posting. Searching consumes precious resources and bandwidth, and that's the reason it's for members of 100 posts or more. 100 posts is not allot of posts when you think about it.

We are a friendly bunch here (And I intend to keep it that way), so new members are more than welcome to ask any questions they want. This happens on every other site regardless anyways, even with the search feature open to all.

This also discourages the nonsense on other forums of established members saying just search, something we don't want here. We really want new members to feel welcome, and knowing they can't search the forum will encourage those who can to help.

Go ahead and ask your questions. Or contribute to the forum by posting, and you'll enjoy the privilege of being able to search.

Either way, welcome to PBL!

Maybe you could put something to this extent, and then like have mech or electro for mags, because i'm really good with the technical parts of the valve and i know about pnuemags, but ask me about electronics and i won't know what i'm talking about. Although, i suppose if they have this in the first place they'll be expected to not answer what they don't know...

They arent off, there just was a mistake in the rank permissions that allowed users to have image sigs before they met the number of post requirements.

Papa Smurf - Adding new sub-forums and sections to the BST, OT and even the Tech forum are all on the table. We just need material to fill it, but we are getting close. I would rather have a few busy forums then a bunch of empty ones.

That whole mistake with the permission, sorry guys my bad. I am a noob at this so sometimes there is a lot of :wall:

SW and and Druid, as always I will keep the generous offer in mind. Just be aware, the moderators here are anonymous. No one but myself knows who they are - not even each other. At some point hopefully we will need many many more ninja moderators.

I suggest a video thread, this would be awesome because people could see video tutorials, or markers in action, and would allow for people to see exactly what people are talking about when they want to demonstrate something with a gun, or show someone the latest pball product, this would also keep all videos nicely organized in one area.

I'm up for renewing that whole specialist title thing so that people know they're getting quality information, seemed like a really good idea to me.

I agree with Snoopay700, though I think some sort of poll should be used to be determined exactly who whould be the specialists, this way we agree as a community who should represent the group, and they earn their spot fair and square, and then maybe as time goes on you could carry out more polls. Or there should be some sort of challenge or test to become a specialist, either of these ways would be good so the roll isn't just handed out by someone in power at the forum.

Well, there are a few 'senor' members around here who have been around the paintball forums for a while now. So anyone that would be under consideration for "resident tech" status would have to be a know, well respected and upstanding member of the online paintball community ALREADY.

For example, and I will just throw this name out, but a guy like TyMcneer knows his **** on alot of different gear. AGD, WGP, Sheridan, Palmers and probably a few that I forgot. Hell, I spoke to him last night about something I was working on and he gave me some insighton a particular problem that I didnt even get from Tuna or Rogue.

So he knows his stuff, has been around, and is an upstanding member of the community. Meets all the requirements to get a few tech badges.

Also, there can be more than one 'tech' for every category. There are so many of us mag guys here, good information and advise could come from a number of different people. Heck, we have at least three guys here that can be considered "AGD MASTER TECHS". It is in everyones best interest to utilize resources such as that to their fullest potential and not limit it to just a couple of guys.

As far as polling goes, I'm really not to big on that sort of thing.

I doubt anyone will be doing that much on the B/S/T with fewer than 10 posts, and they can always take it to email anyway.

Seconded. Even if it's only a temporary fix, I think it's better than having feedback threads floating around the B/S/T. Just lock the whole forum once we get the real feedback system in place.

Yeah, I would say that or a PG-13 wordfilter. Things like d.ick shouldn't wordfilter (it's a name) or p.iss (it's not that bad) or p.orn (because filtering "****" is like filtering "swear" or "cuss"). If any of that needs to be edited by a mod, feel free, I just couldn't think of another way to discuss it.

Could be that you are under 500 posts. When you move up in rank, try it again. HTML in sigs should be 'on' at that point.

This never made sense to me on the AO,.. and its a HUGE loop-hole in MS Outlook.

Read receipts sent AFTER you read a message?

It should be BEFORE you can read the message.

Perfect example is: I PM'ed a moderator about getting someone banned on the AO. The mod can read the message, not send the receipt,... and when I call them on it publicly,.. they say "I never got your message. Otherwise it would have sent a receipt back to you."

If you dont want to read the message sent by the user,... then by clicking "No" would erase the message.

Quick suggestion that works nicely on forums that share a lot of pictures (like this one :) ). Add the Image Transloader that www.imagenerd.com features. A great place for this is on the "New Topic" and "Post Reply" pages just below the textarea field so users can upload pictures as they are starting a new topic or posting a reply.

This will allow PBL users to upload images directly from this site to www.imagenerds.com 's server. Makes a very handy tool.

Small thought... Not sure exactly how easy/doable this is... Consider having the picture rotation in the upper right corner, pull photos from the people that are online. I hope ths makes sense... If you need PHP help, I can hack with the best of them. If you need real PHP help, I have a friend that actually knows what they are doing ;)

it'll have red lines under the stuff thats spelled wrong.

You must be using an older version. Its a built-in feature in FF 2.0 :

No I have the latest version and I get the red lines, I just don't know how to spell the words right so I need that aspect of a spell check besides pasting into Word, doing the check and coping back to here. Big PITA and not really worth it

Just right mouse click over the red-lined word, it will give you suggestion word.

On another note, even though most of us hate them could farty parts and all that be taken out of the filter. Bit childish IMO not to mention annoying when trying to talk about their various products.

There are many sites out their to discuss products from this company. It was decided right from the beginning that this site wasnt to be one of them.

Dont know if you saw the asterisk, but here is what it refers to:

*Promotion to new member rank is an automated system and can take from 1-3 hours from when you reach the required level of posts. Be patient.

Then go into your User Control Panel and change your sig etc. If it isnt working for you by tomorrow, post back here and it will be checked into.

Once you can play in the game room there are no restrictions.

Without knowing what the message said, the only thing I can think of is you didnt click the 'remember me' button when you logged in. If you dont do that, the site logs you out after a period of inactivity. Playing games doesnt register as activity on the site, so if you play a game long enough, the site will think you are gone and log you out.

Ive checked, and he has permission to both receive and leave feedback. He does have to be logged in to do it as guests do not have this permission.

we need some kind if player connection thing... where we can list first name state, area of state, fields frequented.

Im getting to the point where i want to have a big internets get together ... im tired of not playing with like minded peoples.

im about to check and see if i can sort the user directory somehow to get this.

I know that AO had done a few TX get togethers. I went to one in Plano, then they moved it to Austin IIRC. Don't think they're still doing it, but I'd be cool with helping to put something together.
