Is anyone else sick of this term. I mean come on. Either when someone offers a trade or your looking at there post.
"I've got a upped mag" - almost acceptable cause it's a mag.
"I've got a upped cocker" - well that is really a wide range of things.
"I've got a upped ***" - ack....I don't even wanna know.
I just don't like upped as a word in the paintballer dictionary.

The people who are 'upping' their gear are also the ones 'downing' the price and screwing the market by selling things for next to nothing.

Not to mention companies that promote upgrades, like Tippmann and **. Buying a marker and upgrading the **** out of it does'nt make sence to me at all... You won't get much for the upgrades anyway.

THIS is what gets me. Nobody pays asking price, that's not too bad, but getting slapped in the face by an outrageous offer ****es me off. Everyone haggles everything now.

I always wonder what Up'd means. I mean if I put an aftermarket barrel on my Timmy its upgraded right? Or a colored body kit on an SR or the like. I agree its a stupid term when selling something, I want to know whats been done to it. Most of the trading offers tick me off as well. I actually had someone offer me an up'd ******* for a new in box Protege with 4 eye kit. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Come on guys, it's UPPED!!!! Any upped marker is so much better than ANY stock one
I never sold anything online but i have bought my share of things. I usualy meet the offer of the seller. i rarely negotiate, if i don't think the price is fair, i just look elsewhere.

I think its part of the culture we have developed. I mean is there really anything wrong with the stock DM board? Do we really have to put a mushashi, or virtue or whatever uber fast board into it? Apparently so. We have decided that stock equates crap, when in fact it really isn't.
Of course one of my first markers was a stock spyder TL. I think over the first 8 months I owned it, I spent close to $300 bucks in upgrades -- rocket valve, spudnuk'l bolt, madman springs, derlin cupseal with titanium valve stem, apoc hammer, 45* front block, Air america regulator, polished the internals and a trigger job. I think I had at least 3 gauges on it, and a nifty drop forward with on/off asa. This of course doesn't include the barrel kit, and hopper with a modified board that made the revvy feed faster (and ultimately burned up the board -- funny how that happens when you remove the voltage regulation) .... and at the end of the day, it was still a semi-auto marker that fired at 8-10 bps, and reasonably accurately, which it did quite well out of the box in the first place. :wall:
I think I lost my shirt on it when I parted it out.. so much for upps.

When I was a kid we did this with cars. You could buy a used car with a small block Chevy which already had potential for a good horsepower boost, add headers/dual exhaust, a higher lift cam, a manifold, a Holley 4 barrel, and end up with a car which was louder and faster than stock. Never mind the fact that it was impossible to use that extra power legally, we did it just to be able to say we had something a little above the stockers. I can understand why kids today have the same urge to do this to paintball guns. It's certainly much less expensive than building car engines up now-a-days.
Having said that, I agree that virtually all high end paintball guns today do not need ups. What's more these so called upped guns very often times only have a different barrel or aftermarket grips on them, items which have no added value for someone who would just change them out anyway. When purchasing from kids, it's better to get a stock marker that has never been used (and abused) that one with lotsa "ups".

I upgrade most of my guns. I keep all my guns though. I have a no sell policy and rarely trade. I like my markers to be at their pinnacle just for the sake of being there. I try not to use the word upped though. It are a retard words:freak:

I get Up'd..you needed to have the extra bell and whistle on you marker I get it. I Up'd my Tac-One when I put a new feedneck and on/off rail on it. My question is though...When do I get MAD UPPS!!!!!
anyway to digress further....
What I don't get is going into a Paintball shop and trying to haggle over price. You can do that at a field with a guy selling you his old marker but I have yet to walk into Macy's and say, "hey I like 300 thread count sheets but your kinda high on the price."

At the risk of sounding like every mag fanboy, I remember a time when I bought my Dallara Mag with noting but an intelliframe and CP grip.
Cost me $850 and shipping.
Seems like it's a buyer's market, nowadays.

Adding to your point, Do any of you believe that a unique color scheme on a marker (anodize, powder coated, whatever) should add to it's price?

Not really. I hate seeing the whole "Uber Rare Gat... 1 of 8 in this color! That adds $300 to the value."
I would not pay extra for candy apple red instead of regular red. You can hardly tell the difference to begin with, so I fail to see the added value. To add to my point, Marker A is Marker A is Marker A; so, you really add nothing with a rare color.
I can see charging extra for finishes that are rare or expensive to get, like Aurora back in the old days. Now it is available stock through a different and more successful method, so it is not a hot commodity any longer.

Would you include those 'tattoo's' that people slap on in 'rare finishes' ?
I really think those rare ano's and tattoo things are more towards a niche market anyway.
Man, I hate those viking guys who still list their private label guns for over a grand.
****'s retarded.

It depends on the "tattoos" whether they would add value. HK or someone else's name/initials/nickname/number/family crest/whatever else devalues it greatly in my opinion. For extensive tattoos that are well done with a person neutral theme I might pay extra, like that Nightmare Before Christmas themed mag. I could see that being valuable. I could see paying more for milling if is well done and costly. Both of these points are only to an extent. I could see it adding some value, but not a price increase of 400%...
You are correct about the niche market thing here I think. And it is definitely some retarded dookie that happens with the PL Vikings and Excaliburs IMHO.

It depends. Tatoos can. The 1 of 10 or whatever is bull. I have a 1 of 1 phantom, but any cci dealer can call and order one just like it. Dealers can call and order whatever color they want if they're willing to wait for the next batch to be annoed.

Very true.
I have a one of one tippy 98, and I'm not even done with ti yet.
I doubt anyone would offer more than a $100 for it.
I can't wait to finish this thing.

Incorrect.
Its trigger is upgraded, and none of the internals are stock. Bolt, powertube, Valve, Hammer, and other hidden goodies.
It's weight reduction is an upgrade.
Are you going to tell me that your mag ULE bodies, rails and what have you are not upgrades?

Now that I go and reread it, you openly admit to being a biased hypocrite.
Its only O.K. to use to term Upp'd if it's a Mag.
Good game.

I was actually reffering to one of one anno but that is a cool tippy. It sounds like its Upped to me, but also heavily modded. Truthfully while its a good job and a lot of work things like that are what I fear whenever I see Upped in the title. I support some upgrades, but most do more harm than good.
Also on the mag he said almost acceptable not acceptable. I don't mind the term upped if they tell me what the upgrades are but anymore alot don't.

Tri....I'll admit being a biased hypocrite. When it comes to mags sure. I've got no problem with that. The thing that make is almost tolerable is that it is a Mag. I still hate the term. I can just still click on the link or keep on reading the post when they say that. When any other marker with UPPED in the title I wouldn't give the time of day.
