The Shadow rail was the 3rd in the lineage of RPG rails. As you can see from the pic below, it originally had the contoured hump for the sear axle pin. Otherwise, this rail was flat on both sides.
Its design was minimalist, and its inspiration actually came from the original RogueRail as Id occasionally get a customer who wanted a wingless RogueRail. The design is quite plain, but of all the rails I have ever offered it is one of the best sellers.
Due to its minimalist design, to date it is the lightest rail I have offered. Some find the design rather plain, but because of this it appeals to the largest audience. Kinda like the color black goes with everything.
The Shadow rail also has the rear accessory slot feature, but because of its tapered tail, the original slot was open.
The Shadow rail was updated in later years; the hump was removed completely, and a custom sear pin was included so that it fit flush with the rail. The rear accessory slot was truncated so that it was closed.
