As some of you know im very unhappy with the quality of paint these days, and even more so the paint that hurts the environment, and stains my clothes, and my Refs nice jerseys
I am going to be calling companies and asking for a list or for them to name off any and all products that contain either a staining agent, and or a Vegetable/oil fill.
Im guessing that some of these places will
A, decline to answer or hang up on me
B, act dumb
C, say they will get back to me when they can find an answer
D, give some reason as to why they arent bad or ask why VO fills are bad.
E, other
anyone got any other possible outcomes, or anything else i should be sure to ask.
I am also working with other field owners/managers in the area to dissalow any and all oil based fills, or paint from wal-mart or sports authority, etc

Hmm. Seems like a reasonable idea.
I CAN tell you that my home field uses Draxxus paint (all diff. grades) and the fill has never given me troubles. Cleans really easy, but still marks rather nicely. Ive seen thicker fills, but it still works out ok for rec play. I have used the Evil paint also, and it was nice. Expensive, but very uniform, breaks easy, and marked well. Shot straight as an arrow too. Clean up was ok, not great, but ok. White fill left some small residue on my hat (black hat) but cleaned out of everything else.
Also, the past few weeks ive used the Polar whateversomething paint. The stuff specific for winter. white fill on that also. I love it. Breaks SUPER easy, and clean up was a snap. everything whiped away pretty clean. My only gripe was that the paint wasnt the most uniform stuff ive ever shot, same case had ranges from .686 to .691, and didnt always fly perfect. Still, it was in-expensive, broke VERY nicely, (suprisingly nice) and all in all was pretty good for the cold weather.
Hope this helps.

Nelson changed their formula a while back.. Nelsplat leaves a gooey almost bubblegum like spot.. It took simple green and a pressure washer to get the crap off the bunkers...
Also Menace paint -- gross stuff.
I have never had any problem with the RPS or draxxus stuff.

Ive had a yellow spot on the leg of a set of my camos for 4 years now. I hate when that happens. At least those pants still fit though.. which is probably a good thing.

Like scott said, I have some spots on my jersey that are prolly a good 4-5 years old. I remember way back in the day when we would shoot brass eagle paint from wal-mart:ooo: when we would wash it off bunkers it looked like we soaped the whole thing down. I dunno do they still make paint that soapy??

PMI premium stains bad. I've never had a problem with any of the Archon paints(thats what I use as field paints and it all washes out really well unless you let it sit for weeks). Most of the RPS is good, depending on the batch Stinger stains alottle but not badly. All of the Brass Eagle and assosiates paint is oil based. Thats about my list. All I use is Archon/ZAP paints and everything I do is FPO but I've never had a problem with any of them at all(even on my white ref jerseys). I use to use some RPS and it all seemed fine as well except for the pink premium.

I used some Wrek elite at a field one time and when we got home we noticed that the finish on my A5 was kind of bubbly. The fill was kind of runny and did not mark well. Later learned that they were having problems with the manufacturer. Seems like they were having problems with staining and finishes on some markers. Supposedly they fixed the problem. Never bought anymore to find out.

VO fills stain, not to mention the negative effect on the environment. Nearly all of our wildlife was dead till we had to ban Monsterball, and soon all wally world and oil based paints, we well as others with questionably thick/safe fills.

Ask them for the MSDS.;) [material safety data sheet] They will most likely play dumb but you SHOULD be able to get it by some means.:ooo: Its has to be on file.;)
Here is some info from the ASTM standards on Paintballs.
Environmental Safety—Paintballs shall not contain environmentally
hazardous substances as defined in CERCLA[2]
Regulations 40CFR302.[4] SARAToxic Chemical List[3] Section 313; Clean Air Act[4] Section 112B; and RCRA Regulations[5]
40FRR261.24 through 40CFR261.33.

Can you still get red fill balls? Last I heard you could but ASTM says thats a bad Idea.:(
Fill Color Limitations—The paintballs shall not contain
fill material with a color mimicking that of human blood.
Nearly all of our wildlife was dead
Care to elaborate on this. Did you find a lot of dead animals around or what?

I apologize up front....but you are saying that vegetable oil kills plants? I would never have imagined so. Are you sure it wasn't just the traffic of players trampling everything?
Not arguing just wondering.
I know that there were some iodine based paints a while back that stained like crazy. Anarchy was one of them. Bright orange like a light going off, shot great, but you wore a spot even down to your skin for a week. The jersey never would come clean.

Evil stains if you don't clean it right away.
PMI premium uses the same fill as evil.

I wonder, if whiping wasnt such an issue now-a-days, would the uber nasty stain filled paint be so popular?

Staining paints won't stop wiping.
The staining paints are just cheaper to produce, yeilding a slightly higher profit margin for the company. What these paints achieve is damage of people's personal property, and damage to fields/bunkers/etc.
In the end, these paints will end up being on the "Not Allowed" list at so many fields, companies will have to stop producing them, as there will be no profit in it. Until that time, BYOP fields will continue having problems.
Our local field has already banned certain colors, as they have a tendency to stain the nets/bunkers/trees/etc. They are considering going to field paint only. I am sure that the staining issue is part of the decision.
When we considered making grenade fill, one of the things we considered using was tempura paint and vegetable oil. After some rudimentary test, we discovered that... No it doesn't dry, but it stains wood, cloth, skin, unsealed concrete, plasterboard, grout, etc... You name it, this stuff seemed to stain it all. Needless to say, we went down a different path.
