TERM LIMITS.... NOW...
Conyers is currently the second-longest serving incumbent member of the House (just after fellow Democrat from Michigan, John Dingell) and the fifth-longest incumbent member of the entire Congress by length of service (after Robert Byrd, John Dingell, Ted Kennedy and Daniel Inouye). He is married to Monica Conyers, who is former President Pro-Tempore of the Detroit City Council and the subject of an ongoing FBI investigation into political corruption in the city,[1] and who has pled guilty to conspiring to commit bribery
WTF... Really... WTF?

I could be speaking out of place, here but when I have sat in a few sessions when they read the bills, it’s ridiculous. They have people whose sole job is to do nothing but talk really, really fast. Imagine the fast talk at the end of commercials, but worse because it’s all in "legalese". I understand why they do it, yeah the intent is to hear what is in the bill. That’s totally valid, but when they start writing thousand page long bills, I can’t help but wonder if it’s a written form of filibustering. We all know senators and reps put tack on parts in bills, they are trying to get this stuff in under the radar so to speak, while these guys are asleep from boredom
I understand where he is coming from, but that is attacking the wrong problem. They should have rules about the wording, length and subject matter of bills so that they are easily understood and decisive without being excessively wordy.

The government has been getting out of control; I've only noticed it in the past three or four years myself.
I cant help but wonder if this is intentional, or just pure stupidity. All of these things have been tried before, and they have failed miserably. :wall:

Yet the Democrats keep trying to go after it. I will be supprised if we get out of this without a dictatorship. :slap:

I wonder how long before they try to deem paintball too violent and potentially a training sport for home grown terrorists. Liberals seem to think that tag and dodge ball, and playing like you have a gun with your hand are horrible games. I have seen articles in the past were other liberal countries are banning the sport and equipment all together, and I have heard of some issues of the same here in the states.
Not really an important issue vs the more pressing matters, but it crossed my mind. God bless the USA!
HA! I started a dodgeball league when I worked for Parks and Recreation of LA City...I hope that doesn't make me some terrorist leader/trainer.:smarty:

Yet the Democrats...
Idiocy knows no party. I'm all for tar-and-feather-the-bastards; but the very nature of a two party system creates problems.

I couldn't agree more. The Republicans are as much to blame as the Democrats for this present state of utter confusion in our nation. The GOP had the opportunity to demonstrate the power of conservative economics and chose instead to squander it by underwriting the expansion of government and militarism. Though the jury is still out on Iraq, our past attempts at nation building in the 3rd world have a very poor track record.
A one party system IS Tyranny. The question is, if there is a huge monolithic organization like the Democratic Party, can a bunch of smaller parties gather the resources to win elections or will they cancel each other out? Third parties have tended to draw voters away from one side or the other in the past. That's the Catch 22. The Republicans need to take this beating even if it's at our expense. If they don't see the light this time, we are doomed to live in the world of Liberal Fascism anyway.
