View Full Version : New Emag Trigger

I'm designing a new emag trigger and wanted to gauge some interest. Its very similar to the tuna blade, but it seems to be the most optimal design. Looking for input, should have a prototype trigger cut some time soon. If enough people are interested, we will get things moving faster.

I may add bearings to these, it'll depend mainly on cost. I want to gain enough of a profit to buy the program for my self so I can work on different designs and parts.
what do you all think?

Hey:
How are you looking to attach the magnet??? In those mock-ups I didn't see any-and if I remember correctly thats why more triggers haven't been made for the e-mag.
Just wondering-but keep up the good work. A new trigger would be sweet.

ya, i did this real quick just to get the design down on it. im going more in depth with it later this week and will have one cut out soon enough.
the magnets is one thing im going to add and im looking into adding ball bearings to these. but it might not be cost effective.

I like the design; however:
I think you're going to have a hell of a time raising the money for cad/solids software selling triggers.
Maybe pot, but not triggers.
Just sayin'

Looks great,
How are you planning on machining the end of the trigger? Unless your planning on doing that section of the part on an EDM, you will have difficulty machining it without bending the end part. I suggest leaving a little bit more meat at the end.

Looks good in CAD, for sure.
I dont want to discourage you, but I think youll find that making an E-mag trigger isnt as easy as it appears. Good luck with your project, let us know how it works out.

Ironhyde.. Are you doing the machining in house, or sending it out?

Im having the cut out at ASU. well thats the plan atleast, a friend of mine who helped me make the cad goes there and is taking a course for it. he is going to have it cut by the machining class. I might have to do it somewhere else though as they go on break next friday and have finals soon as well.
ill probably thicken the trigger at the end a little more, i didnt like how that looked from the get go and now that you mentioned having a tough time cutting it without bending it, i will change it.

I like the looks of it also. Hopefully you can pull this off properly. If so, I'd be down for at least one. Especially since I cant find a tunablade.

there no way im going to ship this to anyone without making absolutley sure its works perfect. the new design will also have bearings in it now so there something ive gotta add in as well.
hopefully this ends up working out, ive got a few more ideas but figured this would be the best place to start because i absolutely NEED a new emag trigger.

I like the overall design that you have, but I would change the way the bottom falls back in to the frame. For some reason I see it being a problem for people keeping their finger on the sweet spot. Other than that, a nice design.

So the consensus seem to worry about the way the trigger slopes down at the bottom of it, so i will rework the design a bit and come back with it a little different. ill probably flatten it a little more and work some bearings into the mix.

While the design you have at the top is curvier..... it is pretty close to Tuna's, "TunaBlade" trigger..... which is already quite the nice trigger...

It does resemble Tuna's trigger. Thats true. And if he removes the curveback, it will be a near perfect match.
But it also resembles the 1-off Fireblade E-mag trigger.

i knew it would resemble the tunablade, thats why i got permission from tuna to make a trigger like this and stated that it would be very similar. short of something completely unconventional all triggers will be the same design for the most part.
Plus, it is very hard finding a tunablade at a decent price, im sure you all recall geronimo7 finally gettin one when he offered $100 for one. this is an alternative

It doesn't look like there is enough meat where the magnet needs to go. Looking at my tunablades, it looks like the top of the magnet would sit just on the bottom half of the curve in your design. I could be wrong though. Emag trigger options are always a plus, goodluck. :)

Well i'm sure there are a few who think i'm  for doin that. But trust me you get that bad boy done and i'll get one from ya.

I'd be interested in a nice blade trigger similar to the Tuna. I'll have to see how this turns out, then I'll let you know. Definitely include a roller bearing, though!
