View Full Version : 1000...WE FINALLY GOT THERE! Look inside(PBL Jersey)

Now that we have hit that 1000-member benchmark, there should be something to commemorate it, right?
Its been a long time coming. I am not a graphic artist by any stretch, and there was no consensus on the original mock-ups of the jersey. In large part our own Zak Vetter in his infinite wisdom and skill has contributed to the graphics with the rest being the input from site staff.
Rather than create something graphic intensive that may only appeal to a select few it was decided that the debut design be classic...in classic BLACK!
This is the 'blank slate' to start from. It gives you a real idea of what the jersey looks like without trying to imagine it from a mock-up.
Not much to be said about it really, I think the pics speak for themselves.

That's a swanky jersey to be sure. I might ask, though, 1000 what? What are we commemorating. I have nothing against commemorating things. I'll probably buy beer to, uh, celebrate as well.

I hate it when I do that. In my head I typed '1000 Members'. Bleh, Ive edited the first post to clarify.

That jersey turned out very nice. The font on the back was a great choice, and I like the simplicity of the graphics.
You said that this was a 'starting point', are we choosing individual options for graphics on the front as well?
Regardless...let me know where to sign up for one Great work!

Thanks for the feedback, glad you like it.
The first option will be this jersey. Then there will be semi-custom and custom options at a later date. Prices will vary accordingly. Obviously, this one will be the least expensive as the work is already done, there isnt much to it, and they can be re-ordered with only a change to the name/number.
Other designs havent been created yet, so I dont want to give you any false hope that they will be coming soon.

Nice pics A-Tach. I spent countless hours cleaning up those graphics. That would be considered a 'Custom' jersey. Just so much work involved.
Truth be told, Ive always been a fan of black because a broken ball shows up the best on black. Over the years Ive learned that teams intentionally manipulate the colors on their jerseys to best hide hits. Anything that promotes cheating is something I try to steer clear of.
With that said, Id like to see a camo design and another stock design that is classy if its going to carry the PBL logo. Something like what sandfreestyle came up with. Subtle, but real classy.
That looks pretty sharp. I'm interested in a number 99. How much will these bad boys cost?

Mendel:
Pics get rotated every 3-6 months. Since they are random, if there are too many its possible to rarely if ever see the one you want. Thats why they are rotated.
If you have a new pic of yourself e-mail it along with your order for a jersey if you plan to order one and youll see it up there on the next rotation. Zak sent some new pics to be put up there so its coming close to time for that rotation.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

I would like one of the plain black designs or camo - tiger stripe maybe
Back text would be Gee Tee as for my PBL log-in, and number 77
Where is the link to site thread for placing an order?

Update: These were all 'final-approved' on Monday. I was calling them weeks ago to make sure we were on schedule. They gave me every assurance we were. The printer is about 5 days behind.
Ive been told they should be shipping to me this next week. When they arrive, I will be getting them shipped out as quickly as possible.

Glad to have something to report. A bit disappointed on the 'delivery' time. These are on the way to me, should be here by mid-week. I hope to have them shipped out within 24-48 hours. That gives me time to make sure all is correct before I ship them out to everyone.
I cant apologize enough for the delay. Just happy they are on their way.
Thanks!

UK customs can charge 17.5% vat on goods valued over £18 imported into the EU. This amounted to £11.99 vat based on price of £68 ($65 for shirt + $35 for shipping), and UK courier then added a handling charge of £13.50 :(
So this PBL shirt cost me £93 - the most expensive I've ever owned!
UK Customs scan imports at random, and I normally skip vat and charges on most shipments from the USA. I would say 1 in 10 parcels get some vat etc. added. Oh well.. crap happens. It is a really nice shirt - but I'm soooo glad it fits me ok.

Surprised to hear they get to charge you a VAT on shipping. Thats a first to my knowledge. Also funny that the UK courier gets to add a 'handling charge' on an item that has already had that service paid for. Express Mail isnt a service that ends at the US border. They actually charged you almost as much just for the handling as the US charged for the shipping including tracking and insurance.

Quoted from HMRC website..
http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageVAT_ShowContent&propertyType=document&id=HMCE_CL_000014#P26_2855
3. Charges
3.1 How are import charges calculated?
Charges are calculated by UK Border Agency (UKBA) staff at the postal depots where the packages are received. However, in some cases special arrangements are in place for goods purchased on the Internet (see paragraph 3.4 below).
Value Added Tax (VAT) - Import VAT is charged at the same rate that applies to similar goods sold in the UK and applies to commercial goods over £18 in value, and on gifts that are over £40 in value. The value of the goods for import VAT is based on the:
basic value of goods, plus
postage, packing and insurance, plus
any import (Customs or Excise) duties charged.
Customs duty - Customs duty becomes payable if the goods are over £135 in value but is waived if the amount calculated is less than £9. Customs duty is usually charged as a percentage of the value of the goods.
The amount of customs duty charged will depend on the type of goods imported and their value stated on the customs declaration CN22/CN23 (converted using the rates of exchange for the month of importation as shown on our website).
The percentage varies depending on the type of goods and their country of origin. Duty is charged on the price paid for the goods including any local sales taxes plus postage, packing and insurance costs. However, the cost of postage is excluded from the calculation for customs duty on gifts except where the sender has used the Express Mail Service (EMS) as opposed to a standard mail service.
It's main reason I always try to minimise shipping costs from outside EU
Shipping out of the UK isn't exactly cheap either

Thats painful to read. The VAT is based on any duties too? Thats a duty on a duty.
I hope we never have such a thing here in the US.
Gee Tee

Oh and this deals with handling charge..
3.5 Why do I have to pay a handling fee to Royal Mail?
If customs charges are payable upon importation, Royal Mail charge a handling fee to cover the costs for carrying out customs procedures paying any customs duties or VAT due and collecting it from you. If customs examination is required, or if information is missing from the declaration, Royal Mail open, repack and reseal the package. Royal Mail fees are itemised separately on the charge label and are collected at the same time as customs charges. As they are completely separate from any customs charges, any queries about them should be raised with Royal Mail or Parcelforce Worldwide as appropriate.
There's one thing the UK's goverment and it's agencies are good at..
Keeping it's citizens poor
