Alright guys, Im in the market for a Video camera and looking for your suggestions. Im looking to spend anywhere between 300 - 600 bucks. What should I be looking for? Can I get anything decent at that price? Thank you - Eric

Ive always been a fan of the ones with removable memory. I prefer using SD cards so they are interchangeable with the cameras I use.
If you have cameras that use the mini-sd look for video that does too. It will save you.

I've always had good luck with Panasonic and Canon camcorders. Most cameras these days have gotten away from tapes, and use hard drives or flash drives instead. I would look at a model that uses flash drive (either built in, SD, CF...whatever), since they are better able to handle recording during rough handling.

stereo recording is really nice
something than can record 1080P at 60FPS would be ideal
and the ability to record several hors on one charge, and one card (be it external or internal

The ones with removable hard drive are better, but I prefer the ones with the 30-45min mini DVDs. I can record something, and pop out the dvd and put it in any dvd player. I dont use mine for uploading to youtube or do any editing. I mainly for vacations or my niece/nephew's sporting events.
Something to think about when purchasing the hard drives are that their batteries only last 30min-1hr (or did a year or three ago when I purchased mine). The guy selling me mine was bragging about how I could record 1234567hrs in super high quality blah, blah, blah. The downside is that it would need an extension cord to do so.

Any digital camera you buy, be it still or video, Make sure it is compatible with your computer OS and editing software.
I choose Sony, Because it integrates flawlessly with my XP OS. My kid has a Kodak that stores video in Quacktime.. which at times can be a pain to convert and edit.

oh dear god tell me about it
i bought a new helmet cam that works in HD, only problem its records MP4, and that.. short of having a mac, is about the most annoying format to edit in existence

That is a nice one! Out of my price range at the moment. Maybe I will hold off and save up a bit more cash. Thanks again guys. - Eric
