World Cup 2010

Not sure how many members are watching the cup or even enjoy soccer but Portugal destroyed North Korea 7-0 today!

The US has yet to show what they can do like they did in the Confederations cup 2009. They lost that tournament in the finals to Brazil 3-2. So far this World Cup we have 2 ties and need this win against Algeria to move onto the next round.

France is terrible. After some drama, the French team decided to not practice for the coach in a protest and the coach decided to resign and get out of South Africa. Haha, France shouldn't even be in the cup with that famous hand ball by Thierry Henry that led to the winning goal to qualify them for this world cup.

Im just not up early enough for the 1st morning game. Watching Chile vs Swiss right now. Not a bad game, but nothing exciting either.

While Brazil was clearly the better team yesterday they had a handball as well. I really didn't care who won at first, but the way the ivory coast was playing they defiantly deserve the loss.

The red card that they got was complete and total bs. Toward the end of the game there was more acting than soccer.

As much as I don't like instant replay rules I think soccer will need to write some in their books before the next world cup.

That was definitely a handball! Soccer has the worst actors in sports. The refs give yellow cards for terrible acting. Just saw one givin this morning to a Chile player.

For anyone who missed today's USA vs Algeria game, we just had to win in dramatic fashion. :popcorn: After 90 min of soccer it was a tie and our World cup was coming to an end but 1 min into added time Landon Donovan comes through big. So one second we're going home and the next we are winners of Group C.

So one second we're going home and the next we are winners of Group C.


It is a strange game. Slovenia went from top of the pool that morning to heading home at the end of the US/Algeria and England/Slovenia games. Italy which won the Cup four years ago didn't advance out of pool play. France, well . . . outdid their reputations as surrender monkeys. The remaining rounds will undoubtedly have some drama also.

As happy as I was for our boys to advance, I felt a little sad for Algeria. I thought they played with determination and class. England was okay, but I don't feel Slovenia played with class against us. At least Slovenia is heading home.

Beginning of the match was well played. There was some dirty play towards the end for sure. When I saw the replay of one of the Algerian's who already had a yellow card purposely put a fist in Dempsey's face inside the penalty box and gave him a bloody lip, I was happy Algeria exited the Cup.

Netherlands vs Spain today in the World Cup finals..... go HOLLAND!!!!

Germany took care of Uruguay in the third place match, a fun game to watch.
