Hi everyone,

I am in the process of acquiring a Cole Cocker. I am actually going to swap back on the single trigger frame. I spoke to the owner, and he said that he hasn't done much to it besides the Rock LPR, Bob Long HPR, and the double trigger frame. I think it has the Bomb 3 way on it already, and the ram looks like it is in good condition. I read through the other post from a few months back about cockers, and I was wondering if anyone has an advice on any needed/beneficial upgrades.

A few specific questions:

- The bolt is one of the special ones that screws in. Is it worth it to change the back block and Bolt, and if so, which to get?
- I am guessing that I can get by with the valve that is in there, and pick up a set of the madmen spring kit. ALthought I was looking at the Palmer's valve too, straight from them for $37.
- Not concerned about a barrel. I have a Deadly Wind already with Stainless inserts. I'll just under bore a little.
- Is that HPR ok? Figured Bob Long are pretty good. Is it worth it going with something a little better?
- Lastly, if anyone has any background on these guns, and maybe what they are worth about today, that would be awesome. I don't know much about this special edition.

Oh, and I almost forgot, Not that I am tied to this amount, but let's just say that in your opinion, if you were going to spend $100-150 on upgrades, what would be priority.

As always, I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks everyone!!!

Looks like a really nice gun. I'm not too familiar with the Cole's though. I'd just keep the back block/bolt as is since it matches the ano. That is a Bomb 3-way you have on there. Stock valves are just fine. With the spring kit, you shouldn't have any problems. The Bob Long Torpedo HPRs are pretty good. If you really want to get something consistent, go with an AKA product (2-Liter, SST, Sidewinder). As far as any upgrades go, I can't really think of anything too pressing for you. The Rock is the best LPR you can find, bombs are great 3-ways. The STO ram should work fine for you, though Palmer's Quicker rams I hear are excellent. You've got the matching slider you're putting back on, so I think you've got a great setup as it is. I'd take it out a few times and see how you like it, then decide if there is anything else you might need based on consistency, speed, etc.

Thank you for the comments. I think I will do that. Might as well shoot it a little and see what bothers me, if anything, then try to fix those issues with better parts. I'm excited. I always love old school markers, and nothing's really more old school than a cocker! Thanks again Xero:cheers:

Beautiful gun.

Xero pretty much nailed it in his post.

Cole Cockers arent very common, so make sure that you keep the parts together and FOR GODS SAKE NEVER DRILL IT!!!

When you put the slider back on, you'll need to swap the positions of the first and last hoses on the 3-way.

The stock valve is perfectly fine. I wouldn't run out and change springs until after you have shot it over the chrono first. If she's consistent, you can leave everything alone.

I haven't used the BL regs, but as already mentioned, pick up an AKA or the Palmers Stab if you find that the BL doesn't work out well enough.

The only thing I'd do, is get the pneumatics all chrome or all black :D

All that being said, most cockers arent worth a whole lot these days.

from what i know, it was Chris Cole, and if memory serves me correct, he worked for dye

as for upgrading,, one thing to keep in mind with cockers, if its working well, your not really fixing anything by ugrading parts that are already working, if there is something wrong with something, then by all means change it, if not, your probably better off leaving it alone

for the backblock and bolt,, unless there is something wrong with it i.e. your getting alot of blowback, or your velocity is terrible, leave it be, besides with a new bolt and block the anno wont watch

if the stock valve is working fine, leave it be, as for springs, a madman kit is helpful if your all about fine tuning your setup, but usually generalizing your setup with the stock springs is just fine.. if you really really gotta change your valve, then yes a palmers is what id recommend in a heartbeat

that sytle of bob long hpr isnt terrible.. definitely not my first choice by any means, but its its adjusting up and down, and your velocity is stable.. why bother changing it? like the valve if you have a burning desire to change it, go with either a sidewinder, a 2 liter, or a gladiator

as for what its worth.. and old school custom milled cocker is gonna be worth a little.. sadly the cocker market has hit the skids pretty hard, id hazzard a guess of saying that gun is in the 3-400 dollar range

hope some of that was helpful
