So, i know when i started playing, and got picked up by my first team the coach was big on form, and really drilled into my head some things to teach me its not WHAT you shoot, its HOW you shoot it. He was a super great guy, and ever since then ive always been more critical about HOW i play.
That being said, i get asked alot of questions from new players at the field (how do i aim, how should i hold the gun? etc etc) and thought it would be nice to have a "New Players Clinic"
My other thread gave me the idea to post on here for some feedback form you fine folk.
Im hoping to get a chance to do it this year. The curriculum is something ive been working on for a month or so now. Its really for "new" players, or those that have played once or twice. Teaches things like
-basic marker technology (what does what, etc)
-safety, and why its so important
-movement
-stance
-aiming
-proper gun possision (its different for everyone on the specifics, but the basics are the same)
-how to keep your profile "small"
-communication
-team movement (again, basics here)
and some other tid bits. Nothing too major here, as i woudlnt go too far into specifics, but i think it would be good for the new players to learn some technique and form. I know ive asked a few of the kids around teh field and they said they would enjoy it. i would want it to be fun, and educational. I was thinking about having a small "tourney" at the end, and the winning team gets....whatever. Or a raffle/contest to win your own gear. Nothing big, but enough to get you going. (mask,gun,co2,hopper) and maybe do some type of certificates or something to show you passed. It would mainly be geared toward the 16 and under crowd, but anyone is welcome.
What are your thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? What should i concentrate on? Did i leave anything out?
Im really wanting to do this, and have been putting together specifics to pitch to the field owner next season. Id enjoy your imput.
Ive been tweaking the curriculum alot lately, trying to get the right balance of information. Once i get it set, ill pitch it to the field owner.
