My brother is coming to California for Christmas and while that's never an ideal time to try and organize any games, I need to at least put out the word in case any of you want to come play.

We are looking at Sunday December 26th at Extreme Paintball because they have a special "right after Christmas" cheap play day thing going on. $10 admission and all day air, they will have that great airball field up and there is a free raffle.

So ya, come out and meet my brother Bones if you have no already, or come out to shoot me I don't care. Not gonna make a "list" for this one just be aware it's happening.

Afterward there'll be Chevy's of course.

Rain is forecast for much of this next week and more importantly for Sunday the 26th (40% chance). Monday is currently listed 0% chance and sunny. Since Extreme's special day is listed as Sunday and Monday I suggest we consider Monday. It's too soon to lock anything in but we need to be ready for that.

Yeah...some of us work that week. I for one am not afraid of a little rain...it's not like I'm going to melt or something.

Looks like Sunday might be a good day to play afterall (keeping fingers crossed) which is good because I can't play on Monday. So count me in for the 26th.

haha , your the man. Hey I know alot of you guys are over near the coast. Have you seen this new field in Livermore? A buddy of mine wants to try it out. It looks pretty cool and it will cut about 1hour15minutes from your trek. Take a look and let me know if there is a interest there. The huge problem with Extreme is the ground is such a hard pack that the water does not sink in and makes for one of the nastiest mud hole for a week after it rains. Let me know what you guys think.

A new field to add to the list of choices! Most excellent. Sadly from Carmel the drive is about 15 minutes different at best for me. Ill be a bit more interested to play there once they have some more standard speedball style fields. I've had my fill of mound / pit style fields.

Also you should be aware that Extreme has begun having their airball field open each week and you know what they have it on? aaaaaaaastrotuuuuuuurf :banana::banana: I know why people like that so much now, even if it is old and gnarly.

I think for this Christmas game since my bro can't just come back on a whim Ill take him somewhere that has a proven track record. Anyone been there out of curiosity?

The flyer says it is 10.00 for Monday. Not Sunday. I went on ballercafe and asked Gina if Sunday was also 10.00 and she said that it was not. It is full price because they are having a free raffle. I still think my buddy wants to try Livermore. Have a Merry Christmas.

well there website does not inspire me at all. and i dont want to do the mud fest that is called the mounds of doom. I think i will wait till they establish them selves first.

Glad to see another PB park going up though.

So, are we on for Sunday even with no discount in field fee or is there enough interest for $10 Monday? I personally can go either day and will go on the day having the most people.

The pictures/website of the Livermore field look promising, but until they get something beyond mounds and spools I think extreme is a much better choice for a similar price. Especially considering how great our last visit was in both reffing and fields.

Z-man
12-24-2010, 03:02 PM
I'm still looking at Extreme. Normal entry price is $23 with all day air. If you buy a case of their paint (any kind) they drop the entry price to $15. So... $10 vs $15? Ill still go to Extreme. Sunday it is.

I have been checking the weather pretty much constantly and it looks like we are not looking to bad with Sunday. The chance of rain is down to 30% (highest listed I saw was 70%) and only scattered showers. Is it too much to hope for 2 perfect weather days of play in a row as the ultimate paintball Christmas present?

Chris
12-24-2010, 04:38 PM
I'll go to Extreme for the airball field alone.

Although, I hear that Sac. has a new place with some decent airball fields...I think MightyMike tried it out.

my brother wants to use his Christmas present, so he will be very happy to here this.

i just got it done last night at around 9pm just before he got home. Nothing like the last minut. Thanks to rogue for the quick shipping on the parts. It is functional but it will get a different fore grip(once made by VD), eyes, and will be all gloss black. If i ever find an anodizer.

Well we got back safe and exhausted. The weather was good and the field was pretty full. Quite a bit of water laying about on the field and it was a might bit muddy. Fortunately, and unlike many of you foolish children, I have cleats. Cleats are good.

Having said all that, I now have a much better idea why we play among ourselves. We are spoiled rotten I tell you. Everything that I have come to take for granted became vividly clear again. Some of the tournament players we dealt with were of... questionable integrity, and had some impressive egos (not the guns). You how nice it is not to have to deal with that? I had forgotten, but I remember now. Looking forward to Mike's birthday.

hill160881

They just did not realize that it was not a tournament, and when you are shot you dont require a ref call you out. You can do it your self.

I think Bones got the last laugh though. I loved the sight of that kid spitting pink paint and all stitched up. I bet next time he is hit, he stops shooting and calls it.:nana:

That has always been the problem out there. You have a bunch of wanna be posers with the XSV gear on, thinking there Thomas Taylor with there guns set to Full auto and ramping running down the field like fools. The refs never pull anybody and the agglets never go out until someone pulls them or blows there face off. It is a vicious cycle. That is the only field I have ever seen with so many chodes. I still had a great time.

It was a decent day, definitely not a full blown Z day. Lots of bad players. There was only one playable field earlier in the day (besides the big rec ball field) and everyone was trying to get on it. It was broken up into 7 or 8 man teams and we played some pretty skilled players and lost basically every game.

Later in the day when the kid got mad at bones..that was a good game. For me, that game kind of tied up the day and made it close on a positive note because those yelling kids were just so hilarious.

MightyMike

I thought bones showed great restraint for not drowning the spoiled brat w/ the dirty mouth into a puddle of mud. If only I recorded the incident with my camera because like Cunha said it was very amusing.

As usual, I still had a great time playing with everyone here. Thank you Zak and Chris for the endless supply of beef jerkey!! Competition was tough. There was one team on the PSP field which was pretty good and we lost every game to them. One game in particular, Zak and I shot two of their players out of the snake, and i swear not 15 - 20 seconds later they had two more players in the snake. That was one agressive team.

Anyways, i'll have the limited pics i took online tonight. Extreme's photographer was out there and took a few pics of us which turned out pretty good. Here's the link to their site. Oh, and congratulations to Bones and Cunha for winning prizes during the raffle.

Had a lovely time. Any chance I get to play paintball in winter is welcome, as home (Illinois) is like 20˚ right now with lots of snow. Screw that.

Thanks everyone who uh, lent me money because I forgot my wallet. Most of you have been taken care of, I still need to repay Tracy's brother for field entry fee. Overall I was very pleased to finally get a chance to meet and talk with Duane (Matrix machinist extraordinaire) and, of course, the rugged forum-goers. Chris, thank you for the delicious jerky, ribs, and use of allen keys. Mike, I look forward to your pictures. Tracy, thanks for the ride and making sure we didn't die in traffic. kill-n-spree, it was nice meeting you. Let me know how those quads work for you. Cunha, thanks for putting up with all our jabs about your dear sweet mother; I'm sure she's a saint. Saint of loose women.

Yeah, and about the end of the day incident. That was actually the highlight of my day. For those who weren't there, it was a 4 on 4 on one of Extreme's hyperball courses. It came down to Zak and me versus one last guy in XSV jersey/gear (could be team player, could be groupie) behind a bunker. Thinking I had Zak's carpet fire as cover, I decided to charge him and just bunker him. Unfortunately, right as I charged he shot Zak out, and I was just laying into his cover while advancing. He popped out and tried to shoot back at me, but missed. For the next 3 or 4 seconds, we just shot at each other in close range. Somehow, with me standing in the open, he managed to hit me once in the elbow at the end. In the meantime, I had hit him probably 5 times, at least 2 in the face.

He flipped out. He ranted and raved, shouting obscenities. His teammate, who had the same vantage point as him, also °°°°°ed me out because he had "clearly shot me in the elbow first" or some such rot. Cunha and kill-n-spree watched from a different vantage point and interjected to my defense. Basically it ended up with him storming off the field gesticulating angrily and swearing the whole time. It was hilarious.

I pulled one of his teammates aside and asked his name so I could talk to him later. Back in the staging area, I approached him and said something like "Hey, I'm sorry that went down" just to clear the air, and certainly not to admit to any fault of my own. He immediately backed down and was all friendly, but I could tell he was still pretty °°°°ed. I also noted that his teeth were a fine shade of pink, and his beard was dripping a healthy pink slime.

Made me happy.

Sunday was an interesting day. It was fun, and there was some damn good competition...the kids in the XSV jerseys knew how to play a hard game, they were well coordinated and knew the angles, and how to work them. They also totally kicked our °°° :D

I can't say that I saw excessive cheating, but there were enough times where people did not call themselves out with obvious hits (being gogged!!!) that it did put a cloud on the day. As Zak said, maybe we are just spoiled...but I don't think it's too much to ask to play by the rules.

Overall, glad I went, even better to see everyone who showed up.

Bones won an Empire pod pack, and Cunha won an XSV "Hell Week" training dvd. Not bad for having only one raffle ticket each. I think the grand prize was an Empire invert mini.
