Ok, this will be an ongoing story as I SUCK as a typist.
Chapter 1 - The background
Long ago, in a far away land, lived a very serious geek. He was so geeky that his first girlfriend was thought to be his one and only love. He moved from his parents house into hers, and then moved to Pennsylvania to be with her. After a year, she dumped him, shattering his life, and making him into a suicidal human.
This wreck of a human was found, as he was closing up accounts with people, by the first of three sisters. She convinced him that his life was worth something. He moved out of his current residence, and into hers.
Chapter 2 - The Family (No, BigEvil, not that kinda family)
The first sister, named A for the purposes of protecting the innocent/guilty, brought me in, fed me, and made a home for me. We had our ups and downs. A introduced me to her family, and they took a liking to me. I met As other sisters, B and C, and her brother J. A's youngest sister, C, is about my age, and we became good friends. A, B, C and J's Mother decided she liked me, and I was invited to family functions. C's adopted children treated me like an uncle. (The children are another long and drawn out story)
As the years passed, C helped me through some very rough times, mentally. She helped patch up the failing relationship with A on more than one occasion.
Chapter 3 - Misery
Over the next 15 years, A and I had a relationship with all of the ups and downs one could expect. We fought, made up, and fought again. A decided to start a business... Direct mail sucks! A, C and I spent a lot of time and energy getting A's business running. The vast majority of the business be run by C with me doing all of the other non office/financial stuff. I managed to locate a super gravy job! I was pulling down 70k for about 6-10 hours per week of work. In addition, my boss was sooo very cool, that he allowed me to continue to work with/for A, even though his business was in a very similar industry! A could do nothing but bad mouth my boss. She couldn't see that his generousity was helping to bankroll her business. He made loans to me without any interest, to purchase machinery to make A's business run! These were relatively good times for me. I purchased my first pinball machine, got back into paintball, and acquired some of my metal shaping equipment.
As things progresses, I was constantly in jeopardy of losing my house and property in WV. Everytime that things got tight, I tightened my belt, and sacrificed some more, in order to make A's business run. My boss made a legal mistake/oversight (he was ****ing stupid) and lost his business. At this point, A's business was required to move to a new location. This absorbed the last of my capital. A promised to pay the bills I was incurring while working for her... Did I mention that niether C nor I had been able to draw a salary because the business was "too financially strapped". Needless to say, as time passed, my bills began to mount, and the remains of my consulting business was not able to keep up.
Throughout this time period, our relationship is getting worse. A was too overbearing, and I was starting to realize that things were never going to get any better (YES, I am STUPID like that!!) C kept helping me patch my head back together and keep from doing anything like killing A, killing myself, etc.
Chapter 4 - Insanity Insanity is defined, by some, as doing the same exact thing over and over, and expecting different results
Vacations for me were... stressful to say the least. A and I, along with friends would make the trek to one of the biggest SCA events, the Pennsic War. A also had a merchant spot at this event, and for many years it absorbed a considerable quantity of my energy/money during vacation. About three years ago, C invited us to spend some time with her and family at Knoebels Amusement Park (This place is the absolute coolest place to vacation! More on that later) After going the first year, I decided I liked Knoebels far more than the Pennsic War. Knoebels was far more relaxing and only cost me about $1000 versus Pennsic that was running in th $6000-$10000 per year range!
Back to the Pennsic War... (it's ninja time... well sort of...) As funny as it sounds... I'd been attending Pennsic for 10 years and NEVER attended a party! Alcohol flows like water there, and getting drunk is very easy. Hell, getting laid is very easy, so long as one has suitably low standards! A is NOT a party type. I don't do much partying, but I like to wander Pennsic after dark, when the temperature is less than 100*. C was planning to make the party circuit, and invited me along. Not thinking (I know) about the reprecussions, I wandered off with her, and enjoyed the night (no, NOT like that!) This started a small war between A and me. A had her spys... I mean ninjas... keeping an eye on me at Pennsic, reporting what I was up to, and who I was hanging with. Needless to say, I figured out who were my real friends, and who were her flying monkeys... I mean ninjas! ;) Things at home, after vacation, didn't get any better.
This is where I realized that I was insane... I had tried everything to get A to stop playing headgames with friends, family and business associates. At this point I realized that I was going through the same motions and expecting different results... DUH!
Chapter 5 - More fuel for the fire or How to burn bridges and **** off people!
A year passed, and my mental state had deteriorated to the point of collapse. I pointed out that I needed a real vacation, as Pennsic was just torture for me. I insisted that I wanted to spend the week at Knoebels with the family. When the time arrived to make the trip, A's business "needed" me, and I was unable to leave. Ibegan to have some very serious mental problems... Probably needed a psych evaluation! I began texting C at a rediculous rate. Something like 300 messages in two days. I was on the verge of both mental and physical collapse. 20+ hours a day of work plus mental abuse equals a bad time.
Finally, the weekend arrived, and I decided that I was going to Knoebels come hell or high water. Once more, due to A's ability to leave late, we left the city around 6 pm, instead of around noon! A slept the entire trip, leaving me alone to make a 4 hour drive, while exhausted! Needless to say, I was kinda upset at her, and spent saturday and sunday avoiding her, as I needed time away from her, so I didn't do anything too stupid. At the end of the weekend, I drove us home. I realized at that point, that I was still very very messed up mentally. This little break was only forstalling the inevitable. Then the kicked came down... A told me, "I don't need your crap! Suck it up!", in reference to that fact that I NEEDED some down time to recover.
Chapter 6 - Sold for a buck
So... I'm still smarting from the "little" insensitivity of A... Time for Pennsic... again... This was a cheap year, as I didn't have much to spend. I think it only cost about $800 of my non existant money. A and I arrive at Pennsic during the setup time, like usual, and we begin our usual rounds of combat. Things came to a head with me joking to A and C, on a particularly cold night, "Well, how much are you going to bid for me to keep you warm?" A responded first to C with "I'll give you a buck to take him!" Needless to say I spent the night in C's bed (No, NOT like that... yet) I know this sounds really bad, but all of my loyal readers need to understand that I have glossed over so much bad stuff in the relationship. The next day is when C and I got together... use your imaginations kids... I will not be graphic.
Chapter 7 - Ultimate Female Fighting Championship or How A beat the crap out of C!
We returned from Pennsic and things were not any better. I decided that I needed to take a walkabout for about a week. When I tried to leave, A was not able to understand that I needed some time and space. We had worked, lived, ate, slept and gone nearly everywhere together for the last 15 years! The total number of hours alone is significantly less than 100 in that time period. I promised A that I would show up to work for her business, and did. The first day back, she pickuped up one of the other employees, a friend of mine, and drove him to her shop. Along the way, she had a lot to say about me, and my friend was polite enough to set his MP3 player to recording! (Yes, I know there are laws against that! Don't worry about the legal details) When he recounted/replayed what was said, I was ****ed, but said nothing to A. C was working there that day, like most, and A decided to say something crappy to C and I blew a gasket! I informed A that if she had **** to say about me, she should do it to my face, and not run her mouth to friends. I walked out of the shop (Well actually, I shattered the glass front door, and broke an interior door on the way out, but I paid for both of those :) )
As I am walking out, I realize that I have forgotten my wallet, cellphone, blood sugar meter, etc, as I had removed them from my person while I was repairing her machinery. I headed around to the back of the shop to come in through the truck dock, and was nearly run over by C as she was attempting to leave. C looked me in the face, and she looked like someone had worked her over with a baseball bat! The list of damage is more extensive, and I have pictures, somewhere, but it came down to torn ear, torn nose, bit finger, blackeye, and split lips. Apparently, while I was outside, A decided that this was entirely C's fault and beat the crap out of her!
Chapter 8 - Breaking up is hard to do... Well, not really
That was the last time I had any good feelings for A. She insists to this day that she did nothing wrong. I believe that I have come away with new found wisdom, in regards to A. She is at least a little crazy! That was a year ago in September. I've had minimal contact with A, and I feel much better, both mentally and physically. I've gotten free of one of the influences that was slowly killing my will to live.
Thanks to all of you that sat through all of this... Hope you were entertained, and learned a little. A couple of small pieces of advice:
If it ain't fun, stop doing it! (Unless the benefits far, far outweigh the tedium)
If they are psycho to begin with, they will not get any better with time!
