AO has turned into not much more than a glorified B/S/T. A rough count shows that 99/140 "new posts" for me this morning were B/S/T related.

This has been going on for a while now. Off the top of my head, I can think of FiXeL, Me, txaggie08 at a minimum that have gotten bans for things that other people have either gotten warnings for or simply had their posts edited. When you call them out on it, the only response you get is that 'you should know better'.

Do what you know is right. Even if a mod says it isnt. Read the rules, and follow them. Dont listen to tyrant mods[Beemer]. And if you get banned for following the rules, take pride in it. You did the right thing.

Hey man, i'll support anyone who was banned unjustly, i nearly got banned for arguing with this one guy (who i'll keep anonymous) even though i just was correcting him on a misconception of his, then he started to insult me and so i retorted without insulting him and said that i hope that his "e-*****" frew or something like that, and my posts were edited by beemer and he said that he should really ban someone but he hates doing that. I just find it funny that saying e-***** is worse than the insults that were thrown at me that were allowed to stay up, i'll admit that i went off topic, but he just edited my posts when they were talking about that other guy.

Beemer has become very selective in his ways of moderating, if he sees something referring to genitalia it's worse than someone just insulting me outright.

I say we make a thread about this, and if it gets deleted have someone else revive it or something, i mean i think this place has more potential to be great than AO does now, but he still shouldn't get away with this.

And you're perfectly right, Beemer should be gone. AO has split into two groups of people , those supporting the ones that were banned unjustly and those that are supporting AO. The ones that are supporting AO think we're supporting Big-E and Rogue because of who they are, when on the contrary it's what was done. If i had known about this before, i would have reacted the same way no matter who it was, but we all know that Big-E and Rogue never got one of the three warnings you're supposed to get, we know that they've been good members, and we know they don't deserve to be banned, that's the main reason why their story is so much bigger and why there's so much more support now.

AO is going down the drains fast, and it's a damn shame.

see now...I'm a mod of 2 forums, a SuperMod on one of them. I didn't see what went on because I really only go on AO for the BST section or tips/mods.

So the basic gist of what I get from this particular thread is that Rogue and a Mod have been having a ****ing match for a week or so, then re-posted a °°°° spambot, taking it upon himself to question their 'job' and more or less..."pick their battles." I can only take a stab in the dark here but if that's the case:

Had Rogue done that on the one I'm a Super on (re-posted the actual °°°° link)...his discipline would have depended on which Super got a hold of it first. Had he only posted the web address leading to that particular thread, would have likely been a different story in that likely, nothing would have been done to him at all.

Had it been me, even if we were having a *****-fest back and forth, he'd have gotten probably just a warning and a secondary PM saying that "if he's not happy with the way [we] run the forum, to quietly recuse himself from using it any longer" - or something to that affect. You cannot let a personal issue stand between 'common-sense' posting...but he [meaning anyone...not just Rogue] needs to use the same measure of common sense about what he's posting too.

If another Super got it first...I know that 2 of the other 4 would have banned him for at least 3 days...perhaps a week...but like I said earlier, it would have to depend on what link was posted...the bot address or the webpage address leading to it.

If he did post the bot address, then he made a bad choice. Even though he was doing it to prove a point or get a point across, it was still a bad choice. He would have been better off putting the webpage link instead, then argued that he was only reporting the page and not actually re-posting °°°°.

If he posted the webpage address and not the bot link, then it's obvious that the mod that banned him was looking for a reason and Rogue gave him one.

Another thing I should mention is that if you have an issue with someone, you should always take it to PMs. The open forum is no place to have a ****ing match and Mods/Supers will ban you on that principal alone. Posting or berating anyone in open forum normally violates the "no Flame" rule...and people often cite the "Freedom of Speech" as a defense. That's great but the fact is, any on-line forum is a privately owned or controlled medium that is governed by additional rules that the Constitution doesn't protect...because ultimately, it's privately owned or controlled.

I'm not saying Rogue is right or wrong, I'm simply stating that the open forum isn't the place to go when you have a gripe. If a Mod or Super is being a **** to you, then you need to go to another - or better yet, an Admin - for resolution and ask that that mod/Super not have jurisdiction over your posting unless it truly violates the posted Rules.

I've been in that very situation before. I had to limit the interaction of one Mod and a member because they had a personality conflict...and to be honest, it's like sending 2 kids to separate corners. I've got my own kids to take care of...it's exasperating doing it on-line as well.

I can't say that I side with Rogue on this one because I don't know the background between him and this mod...but I can't say I'd side with his bannage and for the same reasons. All I can say is, everyone just needs to be more conscious of what they say [and do] to prevent this stuff from happening.

I did NOT post an external web address or a bot link....I posted an www.automags.org link to a thread on AO(www.automags.org/etcetc). It was not my thread, and the link was an AO link.

A thread that just to happened to have been at the top of the page, in plain view, on the forum menu and contained °°°° links/pics. Not hard to notice, but somehow the mod[Beemer] found it more important to participate in a thread of punkcat's instead of moderating and getting rid of such a thread.

You know I think things are getting a little over blown and we need to let cooler heads run the show a little. We can all agree that the moderating operations at AO have gone to hell in a hand basket? Do we blame Beemer or anyone else in the mod team? Personally I just think that the one or 2 mods that are active aren't enough to police AO. I did NOT post an external web address or a bot link....I posted an www.automags.org link to a thread on AO(www.automags.org/etcetc). It was not my thread, and the link was an AO link.

A thread that just to happened to have been at the top of the page, in plain view, on the forum menu and contained °°°° links/pics. Not hard to notice, but somehow the mod[Beemer] found it more important to participate in a thread of punkcat's instead of moderating and getting rid of such a thread.

Anyone that knows me knows full well that Id never post °°°° on any website. That just aint my style.

Well... as far as running them off. all I can say is I now have a new account on PBLegion and this is my first post. (no, I didn't get banned)

I'm not new to paintball but I am new to Mags and I thought that AO would be a great place to be. I have found that if you want parts for mags you need to get on the forums and that is what has brought me to AO and here; my interest of Automags. Along the way I have found a whole community of people with the same interest and, for the most part, are civil to each other. I guess there is no "one great place" they all have there pluses, some just have more than others and AO seems to be loosing at the moment. That too bad, really.

I am not a good judge of things because I lack the history that most of you have here and at AO. I have been trying to add valuable content when I can on AO and not just fluffy post to get my post count up. I believe in quality not quantity. I have followed the fore mentioned threads and was shocked when I witnessed BigEvil and Rouge get banned for what seemed like minor infractions and a vendetta.

As any noob to any forum it can be hard to break in and not look like your trying to hard. I'm not here for ego, one up or anything like that; it's about paintball, tinkering/tweaking, markers and friendship. (that and the winters in Maine can be real long so I need to get my PB fix some how.)

I really wish I got into Mags about 5 to 6 years ago. It looks like things where hopping back then. Now it kinda feels like I've missed the big party and I'm trying to play catch up.

dude (Looper)...Mags are the ****! and have been for years. Guys like ZackV, Rogue and others just make them that much better. I've got 2 myself but I'm using one of them as a loaner at our renegade field. It's [one of] the only way[s] to introduce the new breed into old school ways.

IMO and based upon what I'm reading, banning Rogue is a power-play by Beemer...who should have his mod permissions stripped for 'abuse of power'.

Someone just deleted all the threads talking about these issues. I mean literally JUST deleted them. I was reading the thread, tried to post, then nothing. Refreshed and they were gone. Oh well. I don't see why the mods have an issue with AOers discussing issues with the forum. I know some were saying Beemer should go, but nothing beyond that. Oh well, looks like Ill be spending more time here on PBL. :clap:
