View Full Version : Ego feedneck on X-mag?

Is it possible to put a stock x-mag vert module on a lathe and turn it down so that it takes an ego feedneck? I'm not super inclined to press fit another feedneck in and would prefer to have some threads or something remove-able like an ego feedneck. I've seen some people do this on stock cockers. Thoughts?

I'm sure it's feasible.

But an EGO feedneck on a mag, thats going to be a lil tall looking wouldn't it?

Thats alot of work for what is in essence basically an 'elbow'. Atach does an awesome xmag breech mod using CCM feednecks.

Check out my SFL.

Hmmm... not sure why it would be any taller since the neck would be flush.

So if you do a press feedneck and then get the marker anno'd - do they have to remove the feedneck and repress it? They they still running ~$70?

Im fairly certain that it stays together, just as if it were the stock feedneck. Talk to Atachone... im sure he can hook you up.

The feedneck are held in by the 2 grub screws. To reanno it you can remove the set screws and the neck will easily come off. I did 3 hybrid feedneck mods (2) xmag breaches and a PTP body. The xmag fit can be removed by hand with a little effort, but on the PTP it had to be pressed in. PM me for pics and I can email them to you...

I thought I remember an extensive debate on this on AO - and the consensus was that the grub screws were added afterwards and were not intended to solely hold in the press fit necks. I have a couple vert modules here and neither budges even with the grub screws out...

ATach - you've done a bunch of these - what are your thoughts? What's your conversion price/turnaround for the CCM neck? I just don't want it pressed in and then taken apart in 4 months when I send it for anno.

In my experience this is untrue. Not one of my necks have just pulled out by hand. I have done 8 or so of my own Xmags/SFL's and probably 10 other's for people. I have had to cut each neck first before removing. The grub screws did nothing in holding the neck in place on any of them.

UThomas, I have to agree. PM me. I personally use CCM necks, I have used a couple hybrids but the CCM has a tighter pressed fit. I don't like to rely on two little grub screws to hold a neck. Once I have everything, it seriously takes under 30 min to complete. So you know, they don't have to remove the neck to ano.

As far as a Ego neck, if it is the same diameter base of the Angel CCM, it should work.

I've never had to cut one. Get a strap wrench, twisting is key.

This has never worked for me. Plus twisting without cutting spreads the medal a little more. I want the Modified neck to press in as tight as possible.

Yanking it out makes the hole any larger? No. I've worked with metal a while, it doesn't harm anything the way I do it.

Clamp it down good, wrench on, turn it all the way around once to loosen it, and pull straight out slowly.

I cut them in half then stick the neck in a vise, clamp and squeeze. This brings the base of the neck closer together without effecting the breech. Maybe your way is best, I dunno. All I know is I want a tight *** fit, this works best for me.

Both are viable options, and neither harm the breech.

I have an extra strap wrench if you want to try one, send me a PM.

Eric, My bad I was talking about the Hybrid Angel feed neck will pull out by hand. The stock feedneck takes some wrangling to get it out.
